Hello!  Looking to rent a motorcycle with sidecar to put in quick video scene.  Would need it no longer than one to two hours.  If anyone near Richmond, Virginia is willing, please let me know. We could even film the scene close to you, so you have eyes on your motorcycle and sidecar at all times.  Thank you! kimjoclark@gmail.com

@kimjoclark Thanks for reaching out.  I am not in the area but am Northeast Regional director for the USCA.  Not sure if we would have someone in your area that is interested but, in any event, would need more information in order for someone to consider this.  From a very high level first questions for me would be what type of scene, type of terrain, riding conditions?  What is the intended usage of the video clip?  Who is the rider and what level of experience do they have piloting a sidecar rig?  This is a very important one as handling a sidecar outfit is more complex than it might seem to someone who has not ridden one before.   And finally, if we do have someone that would consider this what are you looking at for timelines?  Feel free to email me direct if you prefer to have a discussion outside of the forum.  tomgerken53@gmail.com

@kimjoclark, I considered the same questions that Tom @tomjgerken asked, with one more important one:

Are you asking that the volunteered sidecar be operated in this video ? Meaning, specifically, are you looking at simply a static shot of the sidecar, parked, with either male or female model/actors hanging around it, or sitting on it, which means the sidecar rig will NOT be operated, not be in motion ?

Or, are you thinking that one of your staff/cast is actually going to be operating this sidecar rig...driving it down a road, or path, or in a scene ?

As Tom @tomjgergen mentioned, and needs to be clarified...the operation of a sidecar rig is vastly different than that of a 2 wheeled motorcycle, and the money that some of us have in these sidecar rigs is in the $ 20k to $ 75k range, so...whilst we would love to offer a sidecar rig for your video shoot, it needs to be clarified...will the sidecar be operated or not, and by whom ?

@miles-ladue  Hello!  So sorry that I didn't include the details, these are great questions!  I am sending Tom a personal email and will be happy to send you the same if you like.  But to answer your additional question, yes...the sidecar rig would be driven down a straight road for about a 15 to 30 second shot. They wouldn't need to go fast, because it will most likely end up being a slow motion shot anyway. The gentleman driving it has owned motorcycles before, but I don't know if he's driven a sidecar gig before. How difficult would it be for him to learn the proper technique? (I apologize for my ignorance on this!) And the other guy will be sitting in the sidecar. I can email you all the details on the whole project if you want. Just let me know. Thank you!

Hi!

Tom suggested I put the information in my email here.  We are filming a 6 episode season of a new documentary series to pitch to whatever streaming services are interested.  The series highlights artisans with unique skills in the Richmond/surrounding area.  This has been a passion project of my husband's for years, and we were finally able to begin.  This motorcycle and sidecar scene is the closing scene for an episode highlighting a gentleman who builds custom motorcycles.  My husband and his buddy are the co-hosts for the series.  While the interview segments focus on each featured artisan, the short intro and closing scenes will provide some of the comedic moments between the two hosts.  The video crew is The Sunroom Video Production Company.  You can see their great work at http://www.thesunroom.co&source=gmail&ust=1777316310246000&usg=AOvVaw3IsSX4OTkWCzM3teW3hJN A">www.thesunroom.co.

The scene will show my husband riding in the sidecar and his buddy driving the whole rig.  It will just be a short and straight drive down a road, because it won't be longer than 15 to 30 seconds.  It will also most likely be in slow motion.

If anyone would be interested in letting us rent your rig for this purpose, please let me know.
Thank you!
Kim

Thank you for completing the elevator pitch, Kimberly.  Hopefully someone in the area can help make the vision a reality and that your desire to highlight creatives is successful.

Still looking to rent a motorcycle with sidecar rig for a quick video scene.  Could possibly film it Monday, May 4th after lunch, or Friday, May 8th between 2 and 6pm.  Thank you!

I don't have any resources to offer hackwise, but as you are under the gun

perhaps you could..um...change gears !...like maybe feature one of the artisan's bikes with your hubby on a bicycle next to the moto..or trying to catch up to the moto, etc

or old mopeds (remember the cover of Cheap Trick's In color & black-and-white?) - bonus point if they are pedaling them!
