I/we are going to be ordering a Hannigan sidecar soon, but want to be able to "try it on" for size before making the final decision on which model.

We have already sat in a GT/GTL model and liked it, but think that the Astro-GT model would look nicer alongside the BMW R1200RT that will be the tug.
(I photoshopped my bike in next to the two models we are considering to see how they would look next to the bike, and like the look of the GT better...)

So, we are hoping to find someone who owns one of these sidecars who would be willing to let us visit and sit in the unit to make sure that the leg/foot room is adequate for us both. (we take turns driving/riding)

We live in the Milwaukee area, but would be willing to travel several hours to visit you if you are willing to have us "test fit" your sidecar.

Please help us make this important decision.

Feel free to contact me by email or phone.
Thanks!

The GT-GTL, LT and Astro GT share the same interior dimensions as follows:

Leg room, 61"
Shoulder room, 30"
Hip room, 32"

Having just installed an Astro GT for a 6'3" client with a tall passenger I think if you found the other models roomy enough you won't be disappointed with the Astro GT.

Lonnie,
I understand that the basic dimensions are the same.

But looking at the nose of the two models, it seems that the Astro GT model has a slightly lower nose section, which might make those of us with big feet have to lean them over sideways a little when stretched out.

I have bad knees, so if I have to twist my legs to get my feet to fit when I stretch out, that would be bad...

I've looked at a lot of sidecars for my first rig. I was thinking of an "open" hack for the passenger, but really love the look of the Astro GT.

I'm a little concerned on the enclosed glass all the way around. Think the passenger could get a little claustrophoic on the long hauls.

Anyone have any insight or opinions on that.

The canopy is removable. The end result is like being in a T Top or Targa model auto. Open top with weather protection and visibility.

Our last rig was a K75/Astro GT. Underpowered to say the least. My wife liked the Astro but she's short. Normal height/taller folks may find headroom lacking with the roof on. We now have a GL1800/GTL & are both happy.

Jack, how short is short ? Did your wife ever feel clasutrophic?

I love the look of the GT, just a little unsure of how my wife will feel in it.

Unfortunately there is little opportunity to try one on for size. None in the area. Closes one for sale is 4 hours away.

Maybe the chair is substancially larger than I imagine and I'm just "overthinking" the point.

She didn't feel claustrophobic. There's lots of room in there - as much as the GTL. Just less headroom. I put a couple of male friends in there & their heads seemed to be over the windshield. Not sure they'd make it with the roof on.

Suggest you call Hannigan since they don't list headroom in their specs as far as I can see. Headroom can be increased, of course, by sliding the seat forward & reclining the back somewhat.
