Lip sync video that features my sidecar rig heavily
The kids and I made this last month in Switzerland:
Sorry, major safety issues seen here, loose kids, no helmets or safety gear. Granted I am a fanatic on safety issues while riding.

Granted, Wolfhound, granted...
I am confused by the immediacy of replies such as yours on posts like this (I have four very different motorcycles and so posted this to four other forums, and there was always at least one "safety fanatic" making comments...
This is c l e a r l y shot for entertainment -- this was n o t a video of our normal riding. As such I was w e l l aware of the safety issues--it was a one-off.
You can see the volume of traffic where we were (in all the filming, three opposing cars passed us, and you can see the one motorcyclist who came up behind us). This was filmed within one-quarter mile of our house on roads I know well.
In normal riding the kids are always in full-face helmets and belted in the sidecar.
(I don't always wear a helmet, but that's my right in Connecticut, and many other states--are you really going to post about that?!)
I guess you all are like my man Dinesh, who did the camera work--he put on his full gear for this... for a 10 min slow ride on empty roads... LOL To each his own.... But why bother posting that on my thread?! What was your desired outcome? Just curious...
Hey, don't worry about it. He said he was a fanatic, Need he be described further? Fanaticism has fanatic followers.
BTW cute sidecar monkeys.
Sorry if I offended but here we see 99% unprotected riders and they fall off a lot. yes I am and will be a 'fanatic' about safety. Good to know the circumstances of the filming. Helmets are the law in my state but not on some others including
SC. Thanks Phelonius, I think. Goodby all and safe riding!!

Thanks, Phelonius!!!!
your motorcycle, your sidecar, your kids, your wallet, YOUR BUSINESS, no problem here, enjoy 'em while ya can, anyway you see fit.
I'm a safety fanatic (with a 6 year old in the hack), but recognized the art for being what it is, and enjoyed it.
Being close to home means a huge probability of an accident, so we did a fly and ride 6000 miles from home to be safer! 🙂
Another 'fun and games' with stats is that 1 of 5 accidents involve a head injury, which means that 4/5 accidents imply the use of other gear besides a helmet, to avoid injury. Head injuries get all of the attention because they cost taxpayers the most. Not a judgement, but an observation of human behavior.
This is professionally taken photo of a professional magazine model. Many shots were taken that day, I was riding at slow speed on an otherwise un occupied road while the photo vehicle set the pace.
She was posing and even changing clothes in the sidecar as we went along. My job was to pace the photo car staying 3 meters away and look rustic.
The beautiful girl didn't even speak English.

Thank you, moonlite, that’s the American spirit I’m accustomed to.

Thanks, michaelh, for recognizing it was for the art, not normal.
And LOL about flying away to be safer—awesome joke!

Your biggest problem = the kids were having too much fun. 🙂 The nanny state might get you but they will remember this the rest of their lives. Better than giving material things. Had three 12/13 year old girls on my little Enfield/Kozy rig one time. They had a blast just going around our little town (and so did I).
That's why they called it cozy.

I believe (and hope) you are right, MrMike. My ex and I had a philosophical divide on that point--I want to give the kids experiences/memories, she always wants to give them "stuff". I photograph and video the heck out of them, I think they will have these memories forever.
Sounds fun on the Enfield/Kozy -- as they say on many forums (but I say only in jest): "Pictures or it didn't happen"...
Here's another memory example -- Father's Day 2013. (This is before Frankie, the littlest, had a proper helmet, as she was 3 and a half at the time and still easing into such things. She now has a nice white full face with pretty flowers and butterflies 🙂 and you can't see but Eamon and Sophia have lap belts on.)
And also Sophia has already done some motorcycle mechanic work for me!:
Hi Philip, great video. As for the "saftey police" they can p... up a rope! With the video your children can relive those memories for a lifetime and believe me life is short in the grand picture of things. Years ago I had a friend named Jim that always had one of my Sweet sidecars as part of his family. His young daughter at the time almost lived in whatever sidecar they had even sometimes napping inside. Years went by and she grew up to have children of her own. Today in her forty's she doesn't even remember the sidecars that were such a big part of her life growing up. My friend Jim would have given almost anything to have what we have today in the form of videos and the likes. So I say the time spent with the kids in the end will be worth more than any material things that money could buy. Only the shallowest among us would think otherwise. May I suggest that this becomes an annual thing and years from now those memories can be relived by the generations to come. Thanks for reading.
