Any shops NOT 3000 kms on the other side of Canada that anyone can recommend? eastern Ontario or Western Quebec?

Hack'n - 3/24/2010 11:07 PM Good advice for both of you is to have steering modifications to reduce trail and make steering a fingertip job instead of a shoulder job. You'll be glad you did. One good source for triple tree mods for trail reduction is Side Effects in Kamloops, BC. Their website lists an email address but they don't check the email often so for best (quicker) results give a call to Peter or Mary Smith instead. 250-573-2364 Lonnie Northwest Sidecars

People from all over the US get the mods from Peter Smith. Shipping is not all that expensive and any good bike shop can install the trees if you can't, Eh?

I just spoke to Peter and it will be just over $1100 to get the triple trees done......The bike will be out of commission for 2 to 3 weeks! when I do it. 🙁

That's not the end of the world because it's a one time thing but it's the amount of time it will take that has me worried, :O

If you can find another triple tree at a wrecker that has not been damaged, you can send that to him to modify that way the rig won't be out of commission while you wait for yours to come back. Then the next rainy weekend you can tackle the change over..........Just a thought.......... I am finally going to start changing my triple tree tomorrow. I got mine from Peter as well. He is a wealth of information.

I just spoke to my local bike shop and it looks like he'll be able to help me out in the next couple weeks . I guess I will be getting them done. My good friend is also a metal fabricator so he ids going to build be a stainless steel trip tank. Something about 8"diameter and a foot long to put on the luggage rack.

You might want to give Jean-Guy Ratcliffe (CSR sidecars) a ring. He is in Maxville, Ontario...about 400km from you. He likely doesn't have a triple tree, but he may have some suggestions for you. He's been racing/riding/building sidecars for 30+yrs. He is frequently at the track in Shannonville.

Hello, Thanks for all the great comments regarding Side Effects. Just wanted to clarify that we do check the email ever day, numerous times, it's very busy and sometimes we can't reply right away. You can call us, as mentioned, as well. We will be happy to answer or clarify any questions you may have, sidecar or trike related. We are relocating (still in Kamloops) but in to town at a brand new shop in a few month's. Thanks.

Hey Brock,

What would it cost to do triple trees for a DL-1000 V-Strom used has a sidecar tug? Also, do you have any off season specials for such a thing? Maybe I can build some upper body bulk before next fall. 🙂

Do you have any recommendations for a front suspension upgrade for the bike at the time of this upgrade?

Thanks Brock,
Hackpirate

You would want to go with upgraded fork springs like progressive and at least one grade heavier Wt. oil and as far a running a special for this work,,,,,it don't happen, this is a limited special application machine shop job that requires special tooling to do, bite the bullet and get it done.

Welcome to the Forums Brock!
Peter prefers to talk one on one so the information doesn't get dispersed as well as it does in our Forums.

Hey Brock......It's Larry from Lethbridge. Finally got the bike done. Took a bit, but feels really great. I just want to thank you and Peter for the great service with the replacement triple tree and the "FAST" turnaround with the second tree. It was a lot of work but I also learned a lot about the front end of a Wing as well as setting up a sidehack. Hopefully I have it close now. Hopefully I can get the chance to meet you in person one day.

Thanks again.
