Hi, All, I'm chiming in here, obviously because I in the market for a sidecar rig..it looks like i'm going to wind up with a new Ultraclassic and a TLe/Ultra sidehack...i've ridden with a chair a little, just enough to know that I like them. i've got three daughters and a wife who don't get to go with me, unless they follow in the car..no fun..sooo..

Oh..I ride alot now..tune of about 9000 miles in 12 months..I commute every day, have missed,
like three days this year..just because it was too icy..not fun that..

anyway, I'm looking forward to learning alot from your experiences...so thanks in advance.

and now, what may be the weirdest question asked to date, Can someone who owns an Electra Glide, with a Harley sidecar, please grab a tape measure, and measure the overall width of the rig
at the widest point? I need to know because I have the opportunity to pick up a box trailer,
in trade and I want to know that both my bikes will fit...see? there is a good reason..

I'll apologize in advance for my CapS..this keyboard is awful, and i've grown tired of fixing caps..

Zopi,
Five people? Even if three are small sounds like a lot to ask of a TLE combo if all are going at once.
The combo should be 71.9" from the sidecar hub to the left handlebar tip. add extra space for the clutch lever and fairing.
You'll need to add side clearance to this and room to be able to tie it down (a front door helps). Assuming it is a box trailer.
If it has a drop down ramp, make sure the hoisting cables and entry door are wide enough to clear the outfit when loading.
The main squeeze points to consider are the entry door, ramp cables and inside wheel wells. Add elbow room so you can get in and out and you're good to go.
Any chance you can do a dry run? That's a sure fire method of measuring.

Thanks for the reply. we're not all gonna go on one bike.. (pictures of the beverly hills hillbillies here..) we've got a sporty that I ride every day..Wifey will inherit...

i'm not really planning on buying the trailer until after I get the bike, i'm just shopping the market and wanted an Idea of what to look for. looks like it'll have to be seven feet wide minimum. no big deal there.

i've got a large tandem axle flatbed..but roadgrime on my babies does not make me happy
if I can avoid it...riding is more fun than washing...

Hmmn....maybe i'll look into gator skins and see if they'll make a cover for the sidehack..

Thanks again,
Lloyd

Zopi,
Go with the box trailer if you can find one. I've never pulled a hack, but I've been using an EZ-Rider with my solo Ultra for a couple of years now. The best part about it is that when we get where we're going (I'm usually riding the bike, wife & kids in the van/trailor) it becomes a mobile garage for the bike. Especially handy if you're going to be staying near the shore. You wouldn't believe how much salt spray can accumulate overnight.
Joe.
