Hi all

Sorry for the prolific posting, but this site the place to ask, right? BTW, I just sent out my application and fee to the USCA today 🙂

OK, so I run two charities and no, I don't get paid. One is in Cuba and the other is in Haiti. We will be shooting a moto documentary to sell this summer starring.....(drum roll)....the rig I'm setting up now. With any luck, we'll raise some decent money to get some programs rolling. But I was thinking about some ideas for using the sidecar for other things too:

1. Offering sidecar rides (for example) for $20 for 20 minutes. Maybe have goggles and a scarf for fun for the rider. Obviously, there would need to be a waiver signed first necause we live in a sue happy society.

2. Set up the rig to be able to place a large sign on it so local businesses could advertise. I bet I could get $200 for a few hours of advertising.

3. Leasing myself and the sidecar out for parades, special events, etc

This may sound kooky, but then again I am a little kooky. If anybody has seen any of this or has some other ideas, let me know. If I'm nuts, that would be OK too say also 🙂

Put an announcement with fotos and public a bank account on the sidecar with a removable decall. (As on company cars)

Myself I prefer to help with solid work in stead of money help that often / usually disappears over strange ways (even inside the honorable L.... club! > see other post for reference).
Regards
Sven

'Sorry to put a worm in your glass but... If you charge for rides, even with a waiver...

a. You are still liable because no waiver can release you from liability during an illegal action

b. Illegal did you say? Yes, almost everywhere in the US you need a taxi permit or similar [and the accompanying insurance] in order to be able to charge for transport.

I like the concept but you are likely to run afoul of the law.

Good Luck!

Al, you ARE correct. Talked to my insurance agent today and he told me exactly the same thing. Thanks

US should get rid of ALL lawyers!
Sorry I could not keep back with that bashing.
Those few times in my life I got into deep trouble was each time because a lawyer wanted to missinterprete my good intensions.
Luckily I finally found one decent one...

As Saint Peter said to the couple that wanted to marry in heaven.
It took him 2 month to find a priest up there. - How much will it take him to find a lawyer there!

There's one of us down here in the mid-South that mounts political campaign signs in his hack and drives around town. I hear it draws a lot of attention to the candidates.

Build a ramp and jump over 20 school buses with a sidecar outfit. Landing ramp is optional. The cool thing is that you will get paid whether the jump is actually successful or not. A win win deal for sure!
Sorry couldn't resist
