I'm 71 and my wife is 55. She drives the rig to work most days. She lets me drive it on weekends. Got into sidecars 1978 when she decided I had to take her and our new son to the BMW rallies I liked. Had our son on a 500 mile rally run at age 8 months.
We have not owned a car in 6 years, only had the sidecar rig and a motorhome. Now settling down in AZ. Wife thinks we need a car..

65 today. Leaving Tuesday for S. Lake Tahoe alone on the GL1800/GTL rig. Who says old guys can't have adventures?

Once a girlfriend said while I made my national service:
"When you grow up it is connected with having to give up your dreams."
My response was:
"You are completely wrong in this.
It is your only change to realize your dreams!"....
....
Thats what I am still trying hard to do.

I remember knickers, knee high socks and Brown and White saddle shoes.
My mother dressed me like the golfer Bobby Jones and every day was fight
day at school as the other kids made fun of me and I had to defend myself.
I soon learned how to fight and she never did understand.........8^)
65 now, wife is 63, enjoying retirement and doing stuff we put off for years.....shouldn't have...but hindsight is cheap....
Wow, I don't feel quite so bad now. Only 61 and there's more older than me than I thought.
I just purchased my first sidecar on Saturday, the very nice fellow I bought it from had to disassemble it to fit it on the trailer I rented to haul it home. I have never ridden a sidecar and I hope I can learn how. I bought a complete rig so I could keep riding my current motorcycle as a solo bike. I am 51 and my husband is 50. The sidecar is for my dogs, 12 and 7.
What bike and car did you end up with Trish?

55 this Friday but still have the mind of a child......
Just found this post so decided to add my two cents. I'm 67 and am adding a sidecar June 6th from Texas Sidecar. I have not convinced my wife to ride in it yet. She is 66 and loves to ride behind me but not so sure of riding in sidecar. Cooper (my dog and constant sidekick) will become my riding companion. Hope I can convince wife.

My wife had a similar opinion, but in less than a year she wanted her own rig. Now she is training "her" dog to ride to ride her sidecar.
