Honda shadow 600 Hitchhiker sidecar. Help ???
ok well i got a 04 honda shadow 600. i been ookin for a while for sidecars and all that ive are rediculiously expensive. finaly found a shop intown with a hitchhiker sidecar for 1k + labor+ fabricated hardware. sounds like a blessing? owner says he can "make" hardware and hes ben riding for years with his sidecar. i have a dog ive been riding freight trains with for years and i cant leave her behind. i just wanna know if my bike will be able to handle this, what should i look out for when purchaseing this sidecar, and all in all i just need advise. lay it on me people.

I can tell you I have an 883 Sportster with a Velorex(weighs about 170 lbs plus counter weights) and I have had no problems . Me and my grandson have put about 6000 miles on it in 15 months. We took a 1350 mile road trip in September from WV to NC and the only issue we have is I choose soft compound tires twice now . There are Plenty of people on here to help you out. Good luck and happy riding.
The shadow 600 will work fine as a sidecar bike, it will not perform well at high altitudes nor fighting a head wind but you can live with that. When cool cycles ice cream started out ( www.coolcyclesicecream.com ) they ran a fleet of shadow 600's before we up graded them to shadow 750's. The main reason for the up grade was not power but it was because Honda stoped making the shadow 600, They would at times have as much as 400lbs of ice cream in the sidecars and could still go on the freeway.
While we do not make a mounting kit for your bike we may be able to help with some of the part for making the mounts as we do make items like "univesal" strap clamps as well as clevis and eye bolts.

Your 600 Shadow will work fine with the hitchhiker. We've mounted several URALS and Dneprs to them with good results and the HitchHiker is about 100# lighter than the URAL Classic.

i just wanna make sure that the shop mounts it correctly would u be able to send me pics of the correct way to mount a hitchhiker to a 600 shadow ? samartinez515@gmail.com i would really appreciate it and would make me feel alot more comfortable.
Sorry, I do not have photo's. I would recomend not using a bunch of "universal" type frame clamps.
I have attached how we do it on the 750 shadow.
