Harley V-Rod as sidecar tug ?
I have been looking at puttting together a new hauler for my sidecar.... and the V-Rod really looks cool... I wonder...does anyone have a V-rod as their hauler ?? Does it work well ? and special problems finding a subframe ?.... I think I would use Unit Leading Links on the front end...
I would like to see a picture of a V-Rod sidecar tug....anyone ??
Thanks

Set up right the V-Rod should be a great tug. A sub-frame would most likely have to be a one off fabrication.
I was going to convert one when they first came out but the price, way forward footpegs and seating comfort turned me off.
The mid foot position models would be my choice for a V-Rod tug. Preferably with foot boards.
Then (like with most Harley cruisers) someone else's seat would be added for riding comfort.

It's such a kool looking bike...and I was thinking if you used a Unit Leading Link...and I agree the bike needs the mid controls..... but it just looks streamline...like my new car... and I have been watching EBAY and they seem to be available cheeper and lower mileage than comperable BMW late model K bikes...

Depending on which V Rod model you have you can reduce the trail using stock parts from other V Rod models to make steering easier. Mike (whew can't think of his last name) did this with his V Rod/ Hannigan and it worked out very well. I rode it before the steering change and felt that even then it was nto bad at all.
I was thinking of using a set of Unit Leading Links that I have....with 1 5/8 fork tubes.... I think a leading link on a V-Rod would really look Kool.

Claude,
Those are pretty good examples if a guy wanted to do it on the cheap.

I was just thinking.... would make a really neat rig... the leading link...and streamline bike...awsome with that huge rear tire...Never owned a Harley...but the ones I have ridden were pretty nice...never rode a V-Rod... looks Kool... but once bought a BMW R1150S (sport) ....it looked really neat...went fast...almost ruined my back.. I found out it was not the bike for old men... sold it a month later to a much younger man....who loves it.
Maybe one of those BMW K1200GT bikes....tons of horsepower and torque...
