I've gotten interested in the Suzuki SV650 street bike. For those who don't know, it's the "naked" version of the equivalent sport bike, with an upright riding position, standard bars and no fairing or plastic. The engine is a water-cooled L-twin, very similar to the Ducatis...DOHC, with about 70 hp and 50 ft-lb or so. 6-speed transmission and chain final, so easy to change final drive ratios.

Lots of very positive reviews on this bike. It does not have a standard downtube frame, but rather a very strong "wishbone" type frame...not conducive to hacking, I assume, but people have hacked V-Stroms, which have similar frames.

Anyone hacked an SV650? I think it might make a very nice little sport hack rig...and you can get a used SV650 for very little $$$....

Sorry, I have a large scale photo I could put in, but I don't know how to embed a photo here.

Here is a link to the site for the SV650 on the Suzuki website...not very big, I know, but this size photo is all I can find.

Definitely a candidate for a one off sub-frame.
A 562 Velorex would fit nicely though.

I'm in Sacramento,CA, but I'm just in the "thinking about it" phase at the moment...as I've previously noted, I have a nice Vulcan 750 which might be a good candidate as a tug and awhile back, Lonnie showed me a nice hack rig he made with a similar tug awhile back. That is probably the better candidate, even though the SV650 is a pretty cool motor

I also need to go take the S/TEP training in Oregon with Red Menace...so, several steps I'm working (slowly) on....

Vulcan 750 and a Velorex make a GREAT pair. I did one of those for a customer and was thrilled with the results. Very nice match.

A really interesting idea, hacking an SV.

Could be a neat project! Subframe required for sure.
Below is a pic of a subframe. This is one we did for V Strom but it probably would be similar.
