Thank you for providing this avenue of opportunity. I've registered my
personal interests regarding USC. Allow me to expand on this. I've had
20 years on knobby, mostly weekday commuting, & speleological pack mule on weekend pursuits. Are not interested in sidecars but rather 3-wheel
alternative carry options. I'd rather read a response to this greeting in FORUM than e-mail so spill it all in General Discussion Post.

OK to start out I have had 3 wheel trikes and cars. Ipersonally like R/T bikes and cars but I like sidecars best of all, they are the most practical of all IMHOP

You join a sidecar group to announce that you're not interested in sidecars?

That's sorta my thought too.

This might help a little. J.C.'s profile says:

"Adding third wheel to carry 50 liter LPG tank and telescoping spar bearing kayak hull saddles. Are NOT interested in sale of sidecars, second hand goods, social events, special friends, Spetnaz, spit sharing, or street cultures"

So I guess I'm as confused as the rest of you but maybe he is looking for a one wheel trailer or a cargo sidecar?

>>>Adding third wheel to carry 50 liter LPG tank and telescoping spar bearing kayak hull saddles. Are NOT interested in sale of sidecars, second hand goods, social events, special friends, Spetnaz, spit sharing, or street cultures.<<<

Well to me a sidecar may be a pretty good thing to haul a 50 liter tank in and also maybe carry the kayak stuff.
If not intersted in 'second hand goods' then a 'new' sidecar would be in order.
If not interested in 'social events' then rally going is out.
If not intertested in 'special friends' that is fine but too bad.
If not interested in 'spetnaz' I suppose that is fine but I have no idea what that is.
If not interested in 'spit sharing' I suppose that would have been included in the not being interested in 'special friends' category.
If not interested in 'street culture' guess i ain't really interested in that either.
So, what can we do to help ya out here J.C.? Yes, I am serious so just ask.
Willing to be a Not so special friend

Just an FYI to all my special and other friends:
Looked up 'Spetnaz' on the net to hopfuly assist in my lack of having a full rounded vocabulary.
First off I got the following which was not spelled the same as 'spetnaz' which leads me to ponder if we are on the same page or not.
Spetsnaz(It's got an extra 's' in it):
Russian special forces can refer to any elite or special purpose units under subordination of the Federal Security Service (FSB) or Internal Troops of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the units controlled by the military intelligence service GRU.
Note: I agree JC I am not that interested in that either.
Then I found this:
Spetnaz (spelled just like JC spelled it)
http://www.last.fm/user/spetnaz/
Note: Didn't take the time to figure it out with my 26.4 dial up connection speed. Sorry.
Then:
AK47 Spetnaz....seems to be a version that fires 6mm BBs or something.'The Spetsnaz is an excellent assault weapon. The strong metal construction makes it significantly more durable than most other AEGs, and the large battery in the stock gives a high rate of fire, and a long battery life - quite useful when you consider the 250 rounds that the hi-cap mag holds'
Note: I like guns but not really interested in this one.

Google says there are about 40,500 listing for Spetnaz. I hav eenough for me. To do more research woudl possibly make me think that I am really interested in this after all.
From the three above I have to say I am with you JC and not that interested in spetnaz.

If you have a tug (motorcycle platform) to attach it to, I have a New URAL Classic complete chassis (without a body) with zero mileage that would be ideal for carrying the cargo you mention. It is for sale and I am willing to palletize it for shipping. Mounts are commercially available to fit it to almost any motorcycle.
If interested, act soon as it will be soon be converted into a utility box Handyman rig.
And where might Chuckanut Mtn. be? I'm familiar with Chuckanut Drive in WA.

I like fishing too. Bait my hooks rather than tie lures & judging by
the cork action above I've had some nibbles. I'm also catch & release so nobody needs to worry about being breaded for a pan fry. That aside, yes, I'm in this sidecar organization but only for the third wheel &
metal frame research. Got it?

I briefly looked at sidecars for loading LPG tank & rigging pin-pull seperation spar mounting on metal Ural car. Sidecars are mostly designed to haul people, & while some with rear hatch might assist entry of LPG tank (I'm considering between 30 to 70 liters), car body upper elevation with contour makes spar mount fab' more than I'm inclined to deal with.

Seemed to me sidecar would be best eliminated to lower my load. Still are considering material recieved from Mr. D. Bingham about product lines so I'm not ready to roll. If 'cycle frame has had previous 3-wheel usage I'll need to decide how to best mount the frame. Aren't going there just yet. Nor are inclined to belive in concept of universal fittings but then I'm naturally a doubting Thomas and kinda slow for a country boy.

Liked how welding on V-Star enabled it to mate with Ural design fittings
but the machine I'd like to fit is rather like 2008 KTM 640 Adventure.
See trip report elsewhere in FORUM titled, Going Ape, if interested in
my personal agenda. I'm not like other people. Get over it & move on.

I've trucked spar carry Interstate speed 9 years without boat mishap &
as I'm growing cranky in my senior years why not let less fuel thirsty
m/c get tricked into being a better carry? Trailers? I don't think so. Why bother since you folks have such a swell load bearing frame as is?
Look at the metal, fiberglass, padding, windscreen, coffee cup or pop holder, and cigarette lighter some models have. And, Ural suggested 100
more pounds on top of that in its metal sidecar for safety sake. You can
see how this might interest somebody with but a fuel tank and kayak to
add. Any of this starting to sound like prior home study to reader?

My boat has two watertight compartments fore & aft though middle seating area has previously served as an oversized iced pop cooler on long overland cart portage. Of course the hull design looks like a cruise missle in Canadian red. Say, didn't I read recently how another m/c alternative carry was custom moterboat? Fancy that. Who'd have thought?
Point is, sidecars are fine, but not everybody wants one.

I'm watching my cork again.

What kind of size and weigth for your cargo are you talking here?
Note that very few weld on the bike frame when attaching a sidecar.
Note that a speciatly sidecar will be in order for your needs although it may be able to be based on one such as lonnie has offered.
Doug wil give you good advice if you call him as will others on this forum.
I like fishing too but am not totally stuck on catch and relase.

I can't tell if you are East coast or West coast or somewhere in between. Lonnie has a complete Ural frame that would be perfect for a utility application. I've adapted my Dneper sidecar to fit a variety of work and recreational uses. I carry a small welder, hammer drill and grinders as well as a machinist's vise on a removable tool post. The big rack fits on the small racks with a quick release so I can load the fire screens I build. I've carried a 20 foot ladder or a full size carbon dioxide cylinder , or 5 sacks of concrete mix. I have even carried a 4' X 8" sheet of plywood (watch for cross winds) with this rack. There are lots of possibilities.
