Why is it you see lots of goldwing trikes and sidecar But noy many BMW K1200KT's does the GW lend it self to the mods required better than the BMW?

I know you BMW guys will take this hard, but it's just because the 1800s are so awesome!!!! LOL

Sorry, I just couldn't resist saying that 'cause it was wide open for such a response. I really don't know much about BMWs, I'm sure that they're great bikes. But the 1800s are truly awesome. I've been riding on the back seat of a motorcycle since I was a little girl and nothing that I've been on touches an 1800! Not even my 1500 GW.

As the owner of a BMW K1200 LT, I can only guess it's because there are more Honda's out there. So maybe it's a bigger market. The only sidecars for the K1200 that I have seen have from Dauntless and Hannigan. And thats only from their website. I'am still looking to see one in person. Maybe it's because of the frame on Hondas I don't know. I hope this was a more serious answer for. I'am still researching for my bike.

There are quite a few K12's out there with Hacks. I agree Hannigans are th emost often seen. Heck J R Lewis has a Sputnik on one and it works okay for him. Nothing against the 1800 wings they are a neat deal too. Thye did have a fram eproblem which was corrected and there were some reports of overheating when they first came out but I think all of that has been corected.

I HAVE OWNED AND RIDDEN BOTH.WHILE BOTH ARE FINE MACHINES IN MY OPINION THE 1800 IS BETTER SUITED FOR HACK DUTY.THE BMW MANY TIMES WILL NOT PULL A HACK OF ANY SIZE IN TOP GEAR,DOESNT HAVE THE LOW END GRUNT THE WING DOES.MANY HAVE ALSO NOTICED A HIGH PITCHED VIBRATION TRANSFERED TO THE SIDECAR FROM THE BMW,JUST MY OPINION.....

If you are taking a vote, I'd go for the 1800 Goldwing. 🙂 gp

I agree with gypers2. That's what I was trying to say with a bit of humor and not really wanting to put down any other bike. But I guess that tvbike is an extremely serious guy. I ride a 1500 Goldwing with a California Friendship II sidecar and during the five years that I've been driving it, have only felt that it lacked for power on a couple of occasions under extremely unusual circumstances. My husband has an 1800 and I have a friend who has an 1800 trike after having had a 1500 trike and I know that they both think that the 1800 is far more powerful than the 1500. I only ride on the back of the 1800, but I know that puppy is powerful!
