finally arrived today
my motivation Spyder sidecar finally arrived today...the crate was big enough for about 8 illegal aliens. It was nicer than I expected...just have to figure where all those parts go.........have everything uncrated..the parts unwrapped and on the workbench.....anyone want to guess what my project is tomorrow?

Have fun! The first time can be frustrating and exasperating. Stick with it. The rewards far outweigh the frustrations.
Don't be afraid to ask for help.

ksss you are farer ahead then me.....
Lets have some patience what I will get earlier.
A water cooled 4 stroke engine for the Jawa Rig or an enduro sidecar for the KLR.....
Or a self construction as Claude induced me to yesterday...
Have fun and patience.
As we say: "With a stick and patience you will get even the green apples down."

I think you packing 8 illegal aliens into your new sidecar...
Congratulations! Don't be afraid to ask questions. The folks at Motovation are great to work with. Say hello to Mary from Claude. You have a nice sidecar there.

Well the car is together and 3 of the 4 mounts are on the bike....when I received the mounts I never told Mary that I had lowers on the bike . When I received the sidecar and the paperwork I found out that they made a mount that will work and I can still retain my right lower I had her ship me one out...it arrived yesterday afternoon . SO today is the day to finish I hope....I have a cousin thats visiting and he is going to help me finish the install today...wish me luck!
if someone can explain how to post pics I'll post some soon.....Bob

Paddler, take a look at here re: posting photos: http://www.sidecar.com/mbbs22/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=8035&posts=15&start=1
As Lonnie points out, you can re-size simply attach as a "click & see" also.
OK... we're anxiously awaiting.

Paddler, good luck today, I don't normally need lowers here in Texas (but I sure could use them today - it 18 deg F. here) but take a couple of pictures of that mount ya never know when I might want to use them.
well...she's standing as one.......need to readjust the front upper mount to get my lower fairing to fit....install the brake line and the lighting harness .I was lucky to have help today ..it's not too bad doing the install but don't think I could have done it all on my own...a extra pair of hands or two really works out better. I hope to have it on the road tomorrow afternoon or no later than Thursday......I will say this is no job for the meek...LOL
Congratulations Paddler. Getting it done in one or two days is better than I did. Good luck on the road test.
Not quite sure what I did....BUT we had the maiden voyage this afternoon....did about 20 miles and it seems to be tracking just right...guess the toe in and lean are close.....it's funny not to have to put my feet down when I stop....had to cut short the ride due to rain.....so the only things left to do are attach the wiring harness to the bike and put brake fluid in the masted cylinder and bleed them...am looking to add a few maker lights to the outbound side of the car for a bit more visibility at night......
Congratulations Paddler. I've got a few more miles than you do on my rig, but it seems to be "feeling right" now - I originally had too much toe in and the tire was scuffing - a little tweeking and it's a lot better now. I already had a trailer light hook-up on my bike so I just mated the side car to that and presto - lights. I do have a "headlight" on the sidecar (and it's bright too) I wired that to run off the bike's accessory switch on the dash panel so it's tied to the ignition and there's no way it can be left on w/o the ignition being on (which puts all the lights on the bike on also). Hopefully that will keep me from accidently having a run down battery. It also is wired with weather resistant connections at the trailer hitch wiring harness area. So I can unplug it all and remove the sidecar if I need to.
Don't have a problem w/ wanting to put my foot down - injuries to the left leg and heel is why I have a sidecar. I didn't get 2 miles from the house before I had people asking about the rig (from another car stopped at a traffic light). It does draw folks to it.
I broke my back and neck in 97....they weren't sure I was going to walk again...but I fooled them....I rehabbed good enough to get back on a bike but I still have issues with my left leg....it don't do what it needs to all of the time....Looked at a trike, too much money and and didn't like the ride so figured the sidecar was the way to go.....borrowed a friends hack last summer for a bit of time and was satisfied
In one of my other lives I was a electrician so the wiring is pretty simple ....I'm just deciding what I want to add and where...I figure in putting a 12 volt outlet in there someplace for a cellphone charger and a few marker lights to be better seen at night..gotta love those LED's...maybe even light up the inside of the car.....
I had lots of stares and people smiling at the rig just in my short jaunt this afternoon.....
