Hardy over in Texas has started assembling parts to build a DR650 sidecar rig.

Any suggestions, recommendations, advice and/or pictures to guide him along the way??

I would love to help but for almost a month now my ability to post photos ahs disappeared. All the answers to my queries about this say that nothing has changed but that is NOT true.
I can use the EXACT same technique that used to post photos here successfully and it doesn't work.
SOMETHING HAS CHANGED and until I learn the new photo posting protocol I cannot post pictures.

Phelonius

As you can see none of these techniques work. Although the third one down allow the pic to be seen by clicking on it.
Moderators note, if you want pictures posted, devise a system that we can use that actually works.

Phel, I wonder why this is working for me???? It looks the same as yours.

Hey, where is the pic of your DR rig, maybe in a lava field?

Okay the above pictures, if you care to see them, show the versitallity of a DR650/Ural rig

Then some of the photos show details of the mounts.
I had to make a subframe for the lower ones and the upper rear on the bike side was re enforced by the addition of a cross member and some subtle gusseting of the bike frame.
The upper forward one was fabricated , then welded in place .
All the points are Heim joints, none of them use the old tulip mounts of the Ural.
Note the bell crank device to use the hack brake in conjunction with the rear brake. It gives variable percentages of rear brake versus hack brake depending on where you place your toe.
I put the steering damper on as a safety device. It actually steered well without it, quick and precise.
The standard engine has plenty of power and will whip the socks off of a 750 Ural rig even though a smaller engine.
I am presently using a 48 tooth rear sprocket since I often go off road with it. Otherwise a 46 tooth will work.

Phelonius Screw this sites damnable photo posting protocol changes.

Phel, I tried the pics too, but could only import the pics in "full size" so I only posted the mounts. Good pics they are:

I plan to look into updating our forum platform to it becomes more user friendly. 🙁

What are the hog rings for?

Rust? In Hawaii? No way, Bra. You must have had it imported from Seattle along with some "Gooses".

I love this pic of the kayak on the sidecar. It looks like a wacky version of a traditional sidecar. ever been tempted to let someone ride in the kayak while it's lashed down on the sidecar?

BTW - the code I used for posting the pic was:

to get it to show the pic, I had to edit the post, then - in the lower left corner of the edit box is a check box that says "disable HTML" and remove the check mark. When it is checked (default setting for me), the code shows as written. When the check is removed, the picture shows.

Hello from the wannabe 🙂 I am new here and have some real interests that I will address in my own posts.
Being the helpful old oaf that I is I thought that maybe a photo resizeing option might solve some of the problems:
Any how look here if you think it will help.

This will be my last try to post a photo, if it doesn't work screw it I won't post any more pics.

To hell with it . it is not worth the frustration.
