Dogs in sidecars
Always enjoy your dogs, as you are blessed to have time with them. Dusty and Murphy, my wire haired Jack Russell and Bichon, are wonderful companions to me. Both were essentially rescued dogs. I am so very thankful we get to have some shared time on this earth with each other. My wife never enjoyed my sidecar, so it has become a dogmobile over the years. I had two other sidecar dogs pass away and I miss them badly, but I am very, very blessed to have enjoyed some wonderful hack pooches since owning my Ural.
If you enlarge this video clip, you can likely find your own dog or a message about him in there, somewhere. Dogs are great pals, buddies, friends and confidants...
Amen! My best sidecar riding friend is my miniature Dachshund, Maxwell! No human could be as loyal, protective or devoted as a dog. As a former police officer, I have personally had the pleasure of prosecuting and convicting some of the "animals" who abuse these wonderful creatures. I picked up a set of Doggles to keep the wind out of his eyes and have added a restraint system to the sidecar which hooks up to his harness, for safety.
Thanks for the photos!
There ain't nothin' better that ridin' with your best friend.
My problem is getting a 90+ lb Lab into a TLE!!
I bought the TLE Foot Step and then bolted a larger step to that. The new step is about one foot square and is covered with skateboard tape for traction. Fred, the dog, now jumps onto the step and then into the sidecar.
Archie used to jump in or out of the Liberty with ease until he suffered the FCE and was paralyzed for a time. Even when he got the use of his hind legs again they didn't have much strength so I'd help him in or out. He didn't mind at all as long as he could still ride. For anyone who hasn't seen it, there is a link to a video that's about 4 years old now on Liberty sidecars home page. Archie is gone now and Henry is learning to ride. He's not quite the natural that Arch was but he'll get there...

Thanks Swampfox. This forum doesn't seem to work like all the rest, regarding posting photos.

Dave: I've found the better way to post a message is: Click on "Reply" -- then look to the lower left and click on "Use Rich Text Editor" and it's more user friendly with more formatting options. There is a box with a "green tree" on which you can simply click to insert the "Image Location" -- this is what I did last night.

SWEET!! I am seriously looking for a hack now.. I may be getting a rescue dorkie to live with me and Lil G, my current dorkie buddy! I have to get rid of my car, hack my Aero and hope to ride off into the sunset with BOTH dogs!! If I don't get this lil guy, I will be on a waiting list for a miniwirehaired dachsie! I have gone green and ride my mountain all winter, and will hope to retire 6 months down south in winter and 6 months up here in summer, riding and camping and kayaking! WOOHOO!!

Here's a pic of our two Sheba Inu's on the wife's Hannigan hack.
Well, yesterday I lost my little riding buddy Henry. An old pickup went through on our road. Henry chased. He shouldn't have. He was hit and killed.
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how you must feel, so I'll just say I'm sorry.

Sure sorry to hear that Tom.
