Cozy Experience

That is really handsome, Claude. Is there a place to see more of that?
Am I wrong, then, about the Cozy being too light? It looks like an awful lot of work went into that besides a paint job.
Thanks Ernie. There are a few pictures in the photo section at our temporary Yahoo site. See link below.
The 'real' C Stanley Motorsporsts Inc. website should be up and running by the first of the year. It will be called Freedom Sidecars.com.
We do offer a means of lowering the Cozy as shown in Angel's picture as a bolt on kit. It will work on the coil over suspended models only at this time. Takes les thana day to install with common tools.
You are right in saying the Cozy is a light sidecar. It does however have a fairly decent suspension on it using a Gabriel shock and a substantial sidecar frame. We opted not to go with the universal cozy mounts (actually velorex) as we were going to make the rig wide for stability.
So, even though it is a pretty light sidecar weight wise the additional leverage created by the additional width made it work just fine.
A lot of work? Well I suppose a little effort to make a sidecar handle and look more like someone wants it is a small price to pay over riding something that looks wrong to them and also is too light to handle well. If the effort is put in up front the riding can be a joy. If not? Then the riding becomes the work and that's not in line with what having fun is all about.
Note that a small 'compartment' is added as a part of the lowering assembly to allow the addition of lead shot for ballast. Due to the way the thing is mounted no ballast was ever deemed necessary.
Those are handsome.
Claude, I can't find that temporary Yahoo link. I could be there as I am not too good with such things. Can you help?
What is the purpose of lowering the car? Does that help stability? Seems like it might, but not a whole lot. Does ground clearence become an issue?
Thank you for the input.

Click on the link in my signature and it shoud work for you.
The main purpose for lowering the car was aesthetics which is a personal thing. If you look at Uncle Ernies Avatar picture you will se a Steib sidecar. It is low etc. This particular Cozy sidecar body was somewhat patterned after that design but in stock form it sat very high. Yes, lowering does help stability some but the wider stance was th emain stabilizing factor on this build.
Ground clearance isn't much of an issue. The stock Cozy frame rides at close to a FOOT off the ground. We reduced that by five inches. Many sidecar run with much more ground clearance than is really required.
