Co-pilot riding gears

My riding buddy wears Doggles. Of course he's only my SO when we're riding since my wife quit riding with me several years back. In fact that's what lead to sidecars for me...

i actually have both my wife AND her dog in the car. he also has the doggles but doesnt really seem to enjoy them or the wind in his face

My first two sidecar sidekicks wore the Doggles. Archie, the boxer, like he was born in them. Then Henry didn't really like them but didn't want the windshield either so he had to wear them for eye protection. After him, I got my current pup, Petey. He didn't like the Doggles but I found out he didn't mind the windshield so we rode with it for the first few years. Then at the beginning of the riding season last year I decided it was time he wore them. He took to them fine and has been riding with them since. And I've taken the tall windshield off the Liberty. Have a short one on the Spalding and I'm going to put a short one on the Liberty. But Petey can continue to wear Doggles. Finally got him a couple pairs that weren't hand me downs from his predecessors... Good luck in your quest to find out what works.

She dresses comfortably, but there is a blanket in the nose of our Formula 2 just in case she needs an additional layer. Rain Gear packed in the trunk, however the roof will go up for her if it rains. Helmet law here in NY so it is always on. As I tell everyone that stops to talk: the sidecar is for her pleasure. Happy wife Happy Life.

for those of you who have your SO riding with your what do they wear as far as riding gear when they are in the hack? ...

We too carry rain gear & blanket in car. We also have a 12volt blanket but have never used it. When traveling out of the neighborhood, our passengers generally wear closed toe shoes, long pants, mesh gloves, helmet (full or 3/4 with face shield) and a mesh motorcycle jacket. if colder, the jacket is either a motorcycle jacket or a hunting jacket, and if colder, fleece lined pants + insulated gloves/boots, etc. Most of our gloves/jackets are First Gear brand, simply because a couple of regional shops occasionally offer discontinued items at a discount. It seems that a sidecar passenger would more likely encounter s/impacts/abrasions (think fiberglass splinters) than road rash from sliding.

my SO dresses just like she would if she was on the bike, she still spends a lot of time on the bike but when she needs or wants she gets in the car, right now it's about 50/50 split

My SO dresses as if she is riding in the cage. Sandals, shorts, ie. comfortable. There is a blanket, sweatshirt for cool riding. Here in NY, have helmet law, so she wears helmet. So times on longer journeys, in no helmet states, she does not wear it. Like was stated, happy wife, happy life. Sidecar was purchased so that she would be able to travel along also. Hips and back prevented riding on the scoot.

My wife is my only usual passenger. Occasionally the sidecar carries a grandkid. When we go for rides it is "All the gear all the time". My rule is long pants for the kids when we ride. My wife does that automatically.
That reminds me of a cute story about when we took the youngest grandson for a ride. I ask him "What is Grandpa's rule?" Christoffer replied "No jumping out". We went for a ride and stopped at my nephew's house to take one her daughters for a ride. When we asked the question again Christoffer said that Granpa's rule was "Go potty first". Both are good rules but have nothing to do with riding attire.
