Car tires
I have read several of the threads with running car tires but am unable to find a consensus on what will work with what bike. I have a 1987 Harley Classic and was going to switch to a Hankook 195/55r 16. Will this tire fit within the confines of my bike?
Thanks all -
Steve
No,
They will fit ElectraGlides with the wider wheels from 2008 on up. Frame, fender and swingarms were redesigned to accept the wider wheel and tires.
I just ordered a Bridgestone Potenza Summer tire to replace my worn Hankook all season one. It's down to the wear bars after only 8K miles but for only $85.00 it lasted just as long as the OEM Dunlop 407 that cost 4 times as much (mounted). I'm hoping the harder rubber compound of the Potenza will give more mileage. It was $100.

So what tire would you recommend Lonnie? There has to be a flat treaded tire out there somewhere - doesn't there?
For the 3 1/2" wide wheels, I've heard the 5.00x16 Radials outperform the 5.00x16 bias ply tires.
Haven't used either myself.

just measure how wide it is on the upper inside fender well ,and how close your tire is forward space go to tire store see what they have, I had to search a couple stores to find what I was looking for. and settled with a hankook 185/55/16 for my gwing that left me with about a quarter of an inch on inside fender well. and measure how tall your tires is now, may be able to go with a 60 series or 65 series height tire or taller in a 70. so, higher the middle number the taller the tire. Itll be hard to find, but there out there, look on ebay, best place to look, go with that , or take the info you found and look for it local.
