Mike,
The original designer/builder of the Hitchhiker sidecars, Bob Loberg, was in Minnesota.
It was later re-introduced in the '80,s and produced by Pat Sheehy in Ohio. Then like many other Marques it faded away, maybe to be re-introduced again like so many others in a fresh package with a new name.

OK, I was of the impression that they started out under the name Smitty's in Iowa then moved to Minnesota, but thanks for the correction. I'm almost certain Bob Loberg was the one who put me in touch with the guy in Ohio, though I didn't remember Pat's name. Bob was well known among sidecarists here in Wisconsin.

Pat Sheehy bought Hitchhiker in dec.80 and moved it to W.Jefferson,Oh.
due to health reasons he sold it to Paul Williams. Paul opened in may 89 in London Oh. one town away from W,Jeff. the 93 i have was bought new 7-26-93. the fender is mounted to the body and it has atrailer style torsion bar suspension. the 90 has a loop on the left side of the frame like the one on the right side that the air shock is mounted to. it has arm rests on top of the loops. it was the first one out of the shop like that.
