I guess this would go to Joyce, or whoever is the web guru, but;

I have certainly enjoyed entertaining myself with the debates, flames, and arguments imbedded in the threads on this site. Many times these have strayed way off subject to the point of getting personal.

Most of the issues tend to be types of tires, "mine is bigger (better) than yours", and "what should I buy?". So I suggest that we build a searchable data base that we can all populate.

I would think that relative information would be type of bike (make, model, year, size), type of sidecar (make, model, year), tires for each wheel and experiance with tire mileage, likes and dislikes, special and custom features, perhaps some contact information including where you live. Some free form text comments would be nice as well. It would be kinda cool to filter by model, tire, etc.

The point is, I am kind of curious what the different combos of rigs, why someone picked this over that, and what kind of experiance they have had. I am fortunate to have the set up that I have. I am very happy with it and have had very good luck. I almost took a different approach, but didn't, and I am happy to explain why.

The brand bashing and undocumented "facts" that sometimes appear here don't do a lot of good except for the "Jerry Springer entertainment" they provide.

Let me know if I am all wet, or if this is something we could do. And if you like, I don't take anything too personal, so bash away at my Harley, my Liberty Sidecar, my age, my hair, or my big mouth.

Hi Kevin,
I'm not sure how to make this work, I'm really not a guru at all. I guess one option would be a new forum specifically for that information. The search feature here works pretty well and you don't have to search all forums. Let's see if we can figure out a way to set it up but it needs to be something that everyone can add information to easily and the information should all be rather in an orderly format.

Kevin - We would *love* to *have* something like that. Are you volunteering? 🙂

Our webmaster has a real job and give us his time, when available, for free. I also do things for free, but my skill set, while developing..., is somewhat more limited. I can dream about doing stuff like you describe, but implementing it is beyond my skill set at present.

Even a FAQ would be a great thing to have - once. We tend to cover the same ground again and again in different threads.

If you have the skill set and the desire, email me directly at sidecarist@sidecar.com and let's talk.

Thanks, Steve

I would be that I only have the same, or less skills you have. Excell, Work, a little Access. Let me talk to my son. He is always doing websites for people. He is in Milwaukee, WI, but that doesn't seem to make much difference anymore with technology.

I will say that this is a great website. I have learned a lot of what to do and what not to do. The best thing this site povided was the manuals, especially the German Sidecar Manual. That single document answered most of my questions.

That manual in the original version is a kind of driver bible for me since I got my first sidecar on 13.december 1986. (...many stories....staring from the first trafic light...) It even helped me over the 16 years without sidecar driveing in the mind. And its still frecuently on hand for refresh and enjoying funny tales.Now That I found it here in inglish it is my gift for everybody who asks me on the road...Perhaps we get more sidecar pushers here in Costa Rica.Best regardsSven Peter Pan
