   I looks like I will be triking my 2020 RGL. Most likely Hannigan FLH version. The sidecar is staying. I will find another RG to put it on.

Wife is back where she is comfortable riding on the bike and says a trike will work well for her. All I needed to hear. Working on details with Hannagin and Kool Trikes. Hannigan is in the lead.

  Downside I may have to cancel UT trip to get it done.

Late in the  evening,  moored somewhere  along the  River Shannon  in Ireland,  a Flying Monkey would  ask  the  obvious question......Why, pray tell,  does your  wife  prefer to  operate a  trike,  versus a  RGL sidecar rig  ?

It is her decision,  but I  can  think of 99 reasons that  a sidecar rig is much better than  any trike.

Oh, the Humanity  !

@miles-ladue

Wife rides with me not on her own. Sidecar is great . She misses to much scenery in the sidecar. I am not getting rid of the sidecar. Just will be mounting it on another RG.

Hannigans Trike surpass HD Tri Glide by a long shot. Done right the Hannigan will serve up well.

Wait just a dog gone minute.... you woke me up at 2 in the morning, in Ireland, to explain THAT to me ?

Amazed

I know how well the Hannigan trikes are, especially compared to the H-D Triglides, as I drove a couple Hannigan trikes when I was out there, and in fact the H-D trike at Hannigan was much better than the Goldwing trike at Hannigan.

But, are you saying that the choice of a trike is so that your wife can see things better sitting on the back seat of the trike vs sitting IN the sidecar ?

Can I go back to sleep now? The rolling of this boat is slowly lumbering me back to bed.

Wink

Have you look at the RoadSmith ? Not knocking the others, but their trike seems to ride good and handle the bumps very well.

Utah will be here when you are ready.  Might even be a few extra hoodoos and arches for your viewing pleasure.

Hope you'll use this thread to show the build.  😎  I've seen trikes, but never looked at the mechanics/engineering.

   Why not ride double with the sidecar. I've put many miles on that way plus you have way more luggage.

@2FLTC

We have been for some time. Health issues were making it had to be comfortable on the bike seat. That is improving.

We will not part with the sidecar.

Once trike is done we will come up with another RG to put sidecar on. Trike can Not replace the sidecar.

This week I will ride over to Kool Trikes . Have a look and see what they offer. Then figure out when I can ride to Murray KY and sit down with Hannigan.

It is a nice 530 mile ride from here one way.

Looking over things I did make a mistake. The transformer Kit is only 1 inch wider than the FLH but has 9 cubic feet of storage.

Only 20 pounds heaver.

Picture this in Zephyr Blue with blacked wheels. 9 cubic feet trunk vs 5.   8 inches longer than FLH version same wheel base and track and same width.

Of course a better seat.

Wow!  That is sexy!  Really like the styling of the rear.  Looks like a "show bike."   The blue would look awesome as the sun catches all the curves.  😍

@smitty901, I  drove  that very  trike  when I was  at Hannigan  in September  2022. As I said  in an  earlier post,  that  H-D trike  drove better,  and handled  better than the  Goldwing  trike  that  I also  drove.

And, @smitty901,  let me know when you are  planning to go to  Hannigan,  because I  am working on a  deal with  them  to pick up  another  completed sidecar rig  from  them,  so we could  time it out for  both of us  to be  there  at the same time,  and buddy deal  them.

I had a conversation at the CMA Nebraska Rally with the Regional Evangelist about sidecars.  He has acquired a 2003 Guzzi 1100 California (?) that he is planning to add a sidecar to for toting young granddaughters and possible bike show entry.  Long conversation about some of the things he's been learning about various sidecar designs.  I suggested a day trip to Murray and a chat with the Hannigan family which will be simple for him since he lives in southern Indiana and knows exactly where the shop is.
