Bad news- FIre at Hannigans
There was a fire at the Hannigan Motorsports factory on Monday the 14th. Fortunately, according to the news report most of the employees were on lunch break and no one was injured--but the building was damaged and all the molds were lost and will have to be remade. The Hannigans have stated their intention to repair the damage, remake the molds, and continue on with no interruption of employment for their employees. This is just an awful thing to have happen, especially at the beginning of what is likely one of their busiest periods of the year. My wife and I met David and Ruth Anne when we purchased a new sidecar and had it installed last April, and they both went out of their way to make our experience there enjoyable and to get us off to a good start with sidecaring. We're glad to see they are not going to let this beat them down and look forward to seeing them back in full swing.

Keep them in your thoughts,

Boy, that's unfortunate. Sure glad no one was injured tho. Let's all encourage Hannigan's plans to keep the their staff employed and re-build their production facilities.

A collegue here lost his shop for hydraulics in a fire with loss of all his stock about 4-5 years ago.
It was a shock for him and all his clients, but best of all was his attitude.
"That was only material, nobody got hurt. - What doesn't kill you makes you tougher!"
=> He restarted again and said that way he was able to solve a couple of mistakes he had done in his old shop.
Not at all it is easy specially because there was no insurance, But you see him again pushing and with a positive attitude.
Best luck and go for it.

Sad news indeed. Glad nobody was hurt. I hope they can get back up and running soon, but I must admit for my own for selfish reasons. The sidecar I ordered from them was among the ones destroyed in the fire. It was apparently just about finished and ready to ship. I was looking forward to having it mounted in time for our cross country trip in a few weeks. Oh, well, maybe it will be ready by the time we get to Kentucky, and I can have it mounted at the factory. 🙂
Best wishes to Hannigan, and I believe their product is worth waiting for. We are very happy with their sidecar we mounted on my wife's bike.
Best wishes to them for a quick rebuild and recovery.
Sorry to hear that!. I was just adjusting my conte on the weekend. Much better now that it is properly aligned!
Hope they come back stronger than ever.
I know they are in the works of rebuilding,a not so small task concidering all that was lost. Dave's determination will get them back on track,no doubt. Best of luck to my former employer!
Why don't the guys that have Hannigan rigs volunteer to take them to Hannigans so they can make molds from their rigs. I've already approached them with mine(3) and will know next week if they can use them.(2+2, Bandit and Conte')
Some may not wish to sacrifice $1,500.00 plus paint jobs for this purpose.
I would expect that Hannigan would take care of any damages caused during the mold casting. DocWobblin
