Another aluminum painting question

The lower engine case of the Honda CB750 I am working on was painted sometime along the way and the paint is flaking so I would like to paint it flat black. I wonder if I need a high temp paint for aluminum, which I can't seem to find, or is the temp of the case cool enough to paint with regular primer and paint that is suitable for aluminum?

Maybe I should just wire brush it and call it good. Opinions and free suggestions appreciated.

Most oil cooled surfaces do not need high temp primers.
It would be wise to clean surface well of flaking paint, smooth any remaining paint edges with a fine sandpaper or scotchbrite. Remove any traces of oil and fingerprints and prime coat with a thin coat of surfacer. Let dry thoroughly then topcoat.
Heavy prime coats have more of a tendency for failure.

You may want to consider powdercoating it. Call around...price may be much less than you think. If you know someone who is going to send out something to get pwoedercoated adding a few additional pieces can then be really a bargain.

Krylon High Heat spray worked great on my Indian - it comes in a semi gloss that looks good. Another option might be flat black barbeque grill spray.
