A few questions about my Cal Companion GT
I Have my 1995 Cal Companion GT paired with my 97' Heritage Springer. I bought into that the steering was harder than it should be, So I had my triple trees and forks sent to the company that said they would help me out by added a 5 degree rake. It cost me $1,000.00 plus freight. Sounded good to me and was pleased to take this step, believeing that the steering would be so much better than it was. Because winter is still here, I can't say for sure, YET!!! lol
My bike is at a Harley shop for the winter so there's another reason I thought now is the perfect time. I did go and see and check the work out and I was very happy with it. I would have taken it home during a two day warm snap that we had but failed to and now it has snowed again.
I called the company that machined the 5 degree rake on my triple trees to ask about a sterring dampener that the same same company uses. Now, because of the amount I had just spent there, I thought I was a customer. But Because I didn't buy my sidecar from him he would not sell me a steering dampener. So I asked if he would sell me a sidecarfender, I added I love the way his 180 degree fender wrapped more around than mine did. I explainded I was trying to fix up the one I have.
To my surprize, I was told he did the machineing on my harleys triple trees and thats all he would do for me. He wasn't rude, he was just arrogant in a "matter of fact sort of way". I won't mention his name but it rymes with LIBERTY, Frankly I'll never deal with him again. My money is a hard worked for shade of green. If I had known that he was that way, I would have brought my machineing and other business elsewhere. And now I have! Also maybe some mag wheels to replace the wire spoke wheels that I have on my bike. I was told that while trying to turn that they could fold out from under themselves with great risk of hurting somebody. He told me lots of things that couldn't be down on a bike. But I have to smile because I grew up on bikes in the mid sixtys to the 70's and saw everyday things that couldn't be done on a bike. LOL. The parts we were using we didn't buy at the store we made most of it or had folks the were glad to help us out with "Yup, we can do that" and it got done.
Any way I have spoken to (OH Man), (I forgot his name) at DMC, I found him to be very helpful and very willing to help and anyway he could "includeing selling me parts" help me to finish my project. First part will be a nice new fiberglass 180 degree wrap fender, a foot rest for sidecar passenger.

ps: I edited this post this morning because of all the misspelled words.
Thanks for listening
Several of the sidecar mfg'rs. produce items that are adapted to their products and may not fit other applications without modifications that they have no control over and therefore do not wish to accept liability for any ensuing failures. Ergo, they don't sell offhand parts just complete kits or installations.
When product liability laws were instituted in the early '80s there were hundreds of sidecar manufacturers. Now there are dozens.

Hi Lonnie,
Thanks for your input.
That is a much better way to look at it than my first impression.
I'll agree to look at it that way from today forward.
But, I still plan on going to DMC first for my sidecar needs.
sincerely
