What made me comment tonight was a large part of the folks posting are in my age bracket + or - a few years according to the post how old are you . ( me born leap year 1956 so I am almost 14 I think )

Well that may help explain why the only people that give me a thumbs up when I ride my hack are usually very young children ( they love the car and yell give me a ride ) or guys that look like the viet nam era veterans ( also seem to dig the car and always give a thumb up ). every one else looks at me like I am crazy which I do not mind , or completely ignore me ( which I like too ) .I am wondering who gives you a thumb up when riding .

Side note: dogs like hacks too.

Wheelie, we also experience the same groups giving the thumbs up and noticed that the children generally seem to notice us first. At a Scouting picinic last year, when it came time to head home there was a young girl who absolutely refused to get into her parents van. I asked if she was OK and the parents told me that the daughter wanted to see us drive away before she would get into their van. Then I started to ask friends with small children what the sidecar attraction was for the little ones. Finally one parent told us that the Disney channel has a cartoon character named Handy Manny and he has a motorcycle with a sidecar for carrying his talking tool friends to the job sites.

back in the 80s when i had the old police sidecars it seemed like really old and young kids would come and look.i had an 80 year old woman tell me she she hated sidecars and then told me how her dad had an indian with a sidecar in the 1920s.her mom would ride behind him.her sister would ride in the sidecar with her wrapped in blankets because they didnt have a car and they rode even in the winter.she was smiling as she told me the story so i really believe she didnt hate sidecars.

last season,..while crusing down the 407 highway just north of Toronto,..a minivan loaded with parents,2 kids and luggage passed by us on the scooter,..I was in a full recline position with left hand on wife's knee,70-75 mph,..90 degree wind in my face,..and my 8 year old was watching the DVD player under her convertable top in the hack, not caring about anything..it was a zen ride....I swear I saw dad's face morf to green as he stink eyed me up and down,...sunk his head and continued on as his kids and his wife were licking the windows of his "special bus".. my wife and I laughed as we could smell the envy,..too funny,...everyone loves the hack,...even had a couple of cops giggle and point when my daughter was 4 and in her car seat in it,...crawf.

just getting my old sidecar back on the road..hanging it on my 54 Harley.I have racked up less then 2000 miles with it mostly because work got in the way..and on the 75' harley I could never get it to track straight..something to do with a 32 commercial on a 75 not being compatable...but all the kids liked it cop's never belived it was safe..they were probably right..looking forward to rideing this year I got a 3 speed with reverse for the pan, hand shift .foot clutch it's gonna be fun...and where can you get the cobb shirts?? I am a crippled old biker so it just seems like a good idea...

Who gives me the thumbs up....Well mostly Harley Riders (mostly the Old School ones). Then the BMW's , then a scattered mix of all the rest. I Love gitting the Thumb's up...when i was on 2 wheels it seemed most people just wanted to run me over. My Favorite thing when riding is when a Guy points at me and says to his ol'lady LOOK!!... then she Slaps him in the shoulder and then raises her index finger.....I can Imagine her saying somthing like, "not in this lifetime" or "I be damned if you think i'm gonna ride in a tub". I love my hack.....You really do meet the nicest people on 3 wheels and get asked some of the strangest questions.

The most thumbs up I get are when I'm riding around Ann Arbor. The college girls at the bus stops are thumbing for a ride. One of these days I'm gonna stop and give one a ride.

As said before, Children, elder ones and Trafic cops! They may stop you just for to know the rig. With the rig I do not remember that they asked me for the papers. Same as with the Willies before.
