Well I was on here looking to mount my sidecar to my wife's V-star 650 but she has since decided that she didn't want it on her bike so back to the drawing board. So I was thinking of picking up a 70's Honda CB 500-750 being I think they have some cool lines and can be found for a decent price. With that said I know its kinda a general question but would using the std mounting hardware work on these bikes with my sidecar with out having to fab special mounting points? It looks like the exhaust covers the lower frame on most of these bikes...

Or are these bikes not well suited when used with a sidecar?

Thanks

Here are a couple of 70's CB750's using the OEM 562 mountings.

Nice smooth engine. Easy frame, that should be reenforced in my eyes for a rig.(Check the inner swing bushing for wear, Many guys never greased them!) Heavy stearing with weak diving tubes suggests an Earles fork or tripple tree as it seams to be called too.
Poor breaks for high speed solo driving are more then enough at low speeds on a rig. If it has only one disk consider getting the second. I'd go with the 750F or later 900 Boldour, the 400/500 are nice for solo driving. My 650 I had in eyes many times...but I sold it after (only) 148.000km when I emmigrated, don't ask me how often I reproached myself for that idioty.

I am not a friend of the ovenpipe type fasteners at all. For a Rig still the optimum seams to be ball heads and as second choice eye bolts.
Enjoy
Sven

I have a 562 velo on my 78 750K. Pretty cheap rig but works great. I geared the bike down some and since it's a 78 uses the 630 chain. I bought the heaviest duty chain I could. I've yet to have to adjust it, it's holding up well. I'll be glad to show how I mounted my hack. I mounted next to all reinforced areas on the frame and it hasn't loosened or gave any problems at all.

Well after doing the mad dash trying to buy one I found a 78 CB750K. Nice bike.

Lrutt what exhaust do you have on your bike and does your mount locactions look the same as where Lonnie has them in the picture he posted?

Can you post a picture of the mounts on your bike? My only concern is the stock exhaust being in the way...

My 1980 CB900C has the 4 into 4 honda exhaust. On the hack side, the 2 exhaust pipes are a bit in the way of the velorex mounting points - it has custom/modified brackets on the bottom two mounting points.

Ideally, I'd get a 4 into 1 or 4 into 2 exhaust that exits on the left side of the bike, but I don't think they make those. Anyway, now that it's all mounted up, it doesn't matter.
