1st time in 45 years of hacking
I was doing yard work and saw a beautiful rig go by. I waved of course and gave a thumbs up sign.
I finished the work then took a short ride looking for the other hack. Since the road in front of my house is a 9 mile dead end I stopped with my rig parked at the end of my drive by the road to await his return.
When he finally went by I tried to wave him over to find out where he was from. There being only about a dozen rigs on this island.
He waved back but didn't even slow down.
I have been hacking since 1968 and this is the only time I have seen a rig driver not stop when beckoned by another rig driver, especially in a place where there are so few of them.
He must be a newbie.
Maybe he was concentrating on the road, or didn't have time for small talk.
It happens.
Lonnie.

At 30 mph on a clear road?
Yup!
Sure he could have been running short on time after turning up the wrong road only to find out it didn't go through... I met some current friends some years back when I followed a rig that wouldn't pull over. He was running late to pick his wife up when she got off work. Once he got there with me following, we had some great conversation and have remained friends.
Some one as SCARRY as you look?
Trying to wave me over on a "Freddy" Dead End Back Country Dirt Road.....
I would have went from 30 MPH to WOT LOL
Phelonius waved ME down once. There was no way I was not going to stop!
Aloha Phelonius, You and Thomas waved me over in front of Thomas' house. I haven't been out much since. Just to town and back. I had to decline a Sunday ride with Thomas due to a conflicting engagement. I'm hoping to get up your way sometime in the next few months. I'll drive up and down the road until you wave. 😉
What color was the Unknown Hacker? Did you recognize the tug?

Jack (gunmetal harley/Liberty side)
Color black, brand new looking of an expensive way. I think the tug may have been a gold thing.
I'll keep my eyes open.....if I seeum I'll askum 😉
Phel, don't feel bad. Up in my area sidecars are extremely rare, I can count on one hand the number I've seen since the start of this year's riding season. On one memorable occasion, I was heading home from the shop and, on a long and clear straight stretch, saw an approaching rig that turned out to be a Harley/TLE combo. As we met, I threw out a huge wave, thumbs up and a big grin... and got only the slightest, almost imperceptible nod in return.
One day back when I was still riding the Ural and my Harley was still a solo bike, I was coming back from Davenport with Archie beside me. We met a vintage Harley rig going west and I turned around and chased until I caught up. No small feat on the Ural but the other rig wasn't breaking any speed records either. We followed long enough I was beginning to wonder if he'd stop or if he didn't want to meet another rig or what. He finally pulled over and we had some good conversation. Don't recall just what it was but he was riding a very vintage Harley with just as vintage sidecar and was from Flat Rock, South Carolina. He had his dog with him as well and was headed for Alaska. He wanted to go past Grand Coulee Dam but make it to the west side of WA before nightfall. I tried to get him to come by my place so I could grab my camera (that was one of the few times I'd left without it) then show him the scenic route from here to Grand Coulee. We visited perhaps 10 minutes or a little more then parted company. The reason he hadn't stopped originally? He'd lost his only mirror somewhere in Montana. I had a set in the box I offered to give him but that wasn't enticement enough.
Maybe he had to tinkle, some of us old guys do that a lot....just sayin'
