I just mounted a 1970 Bingham Mark I to my 1980 Yamaha SR500. It's a work in progres: needs paint and a seat. And the sidecar needs a new tire. The tire that is on there is a 4.80/4.00-12 Goodyear Super Rib. This tire is no longer available. I don't want to just get a cheap trailer tire. Anyone have a good tire recommendation? Thanks in advance.

4.80x12 Carlisle holds up well and has a wide flat tread.

Actually the 'cheap' trailer tires would quite well. Some even argue that a trailer tire due to the application it is built for is the better choice anyhow.

I'm with Claude here. Those little trailer tires wear like iron.

If your heart is set on a car tire, Kumho still makes a 155/80/12 that will fit a 4.5 inch rim, but it's nearly 22 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide. My camper is still in storage but I don't think the tires on it are quite that tall and I know they're much narrower. Do you have the room for a car tire under your fender?

if you have the fender clearance,Carlisle makes a 145-12 that may work.we use them on our sierra trailers, they ride good and wear well.

Decided to go with CARLISLE Sport Trail ST Sawtooth 480-12 LRB because its diameter better matches the stock tire.

I like the look of the Radial Trail better. I'll order one of those too for good measure.

I am not sure if the extra 0.7 inch of diameter will make a difference. I already feel like the current sidecar tire is a little tall for the bike. I'll report back as to how they work. Thanks for the help.
