1100 V-Star
Breetings all.
Been seeing a lot of V-Star 1100s around lately. Seems like a very nice bike...simple, air-cooled and, from what the owners are telling me, very reliable.
Was thinking about picking one up, riding it for awhile and then hacking it permanently later on.
Any idea how a V-Star 1100 would do as a hack tug? Is EZ Steer availlable for this bike?
Thanks for all input...
Bob
Good sidecar bike for the money !!! Stock front end is not bad. Rear wheel is 16" will accept a car tire and have clearance...make sure to check swingarm width etc as some models may be different.
The V-Styars make fine tugs.
Here are a couple we've hacked.

Thanks, guys!! That's kinda what I was thinking...looks like a pretty torquey little engine, so should do well...
Nice to see it's already been done. Nice work, Lonnie...I particularly like the '02 1100...very nice...
Was at a dealer this PM who had a new '08 leftover 1100 Custom...hmmm....

I put 35000 miles on my '02 1100 custom/Hannigan classic.,about a third of that pulling a camp trailer. these make very nice tugs with decent gas milage and good power. I have rigged several classic and silverado versions and felt they steer a little better with the smaller diameter front wheel. there are a lot of good deals on these bikes out there and many part sources for more performance,so you really can't go wrong with one.
Interesting...the power thing was my next question...is the motor enough to pull the hack at reasonable speeds (which I define as keeping up with traffic on the freeway..)?
Sounds like it is...
Also interesting about the smaller diameter front wheel...I actually prefer the Custom...
the custom was fine handling, but i did need to tighten the headset bearings to eliminate some headshake. I'm with you,I prefer the looks of the Custom.
I have 2003 V-Star 1100 Classic with a Hannigan Classic sidecar and the Steerite conversion. It's a great rig and was put together by vs1100star2002 at Hannigans. If you would like pictures
of the rig send me an e-mail and I'll send one to you. By the way, power is not a problem.
I have a hannigan conte brand new out of the showroom . It's attached to a 97 honda shadow 1100cc. I don't know what to expect as it's my first rig. I find it works hard to stay at 65 miles and our with a 200lb passenger. I am 250 lbs as well. I would have to guess this is normal? I still have to put the steer rite on.
I am interested in seeing pics of your rig.
