1986 BMW K100 / EML GT2 - Virginia
1986 BMW K100 with EML GT2 sidecar
I bought this well-set-up rig two years ago, drove it home from Ohio, and although it didn't really need anything had a fun relaxing winter project going through everything anyway:
- new tires all around (Michelin)
- new battery (Yuasa)
- changed oil, coolant, brake fluid, filters, spark plugs, fuel lines; lots of rubber bits renewed
- tracked down lots of spares and bodywork bits
- cleaned up some messy wiring
Since then it's just been making short local trips. Comes with some nice extras: several different seats (Corbin low, Russell Daylong, and the one pictured), two windscreens, a BMW top box, an EML bra/protector for the sidecar, EML sidecar tonneau cover and EML full convertible top, and various spares.
There's also a removable custom steel subframe (visible in the one of the photos below taken in Fall foliage) that mounts between the sidecar and tug, which supports a large auxiliary fuel tank and a 1" receiver hitch for towing a cargo trailer (though the sidecar's trunk is so large, it's hard to imagine really needing the extra space of a trailer).
This is a loved, well-maintained rig that can be driven anywhere. 51K miles. The BMW is a powerful, robust and reliable tug, although (true to the K-bike reputation) a little buzzy. Handling is truly excellent; takes corners as if on rails... my previous rig was a Ural and driving the EML for the first time was a true eye-opener for me.
Selling only to make space for an R100/Dnepr project; the garage is bursting at the seams!
I paid $8,000 two years ago, happily spent a thousand or two on parts and tires (who's counting), and would like to get the same $8,000 for it. Location: Shenandoah Valley, Virginia (just north of Harrisonburg).

Bob @yessireebob....WOW.....just WOW.
I would give it a 3rd WOW, except.....the front tire needs air. Please check the air pressure on all 3 tires.
And, if a person buys this BEAUTIFUL sidecar rig, can you just keep the "corbin" seat, or throw it away, because 3.14% of us have restraining orders that don't allow us to be within 10 feet of a "corbin" seat.
Do you have a picture of the Russell Day Long seat ? The one in the pictures appears to be a Mayer seat, built by Rocky Mayer, son of Bill Mayer....the originator of what we know today as the RDL...Russell Day Long seats.
LOVE the color choice for this rig.
Oops, almost gave it a 3rd WOW.

Thanks! Here's a photo with what I've assumed to be a Russell seat, which is what the prior owner had fitted. The upholstery on that one is a bit tatty but it is certainly comfortable. The Corbin seat looks nice but is hard as a board.
All the seats come with the rig, but overall I prefer the Mayer shown in most of the photos. It's quite comfortable.

@yessireebob, the seat pictured above with the Black sheepskin cover on it, IS a Russell Day Long saddle.
3 weeks from today I will be having my 19th Russell Day Long saddle made for me, for my Africa twin sidecar rig.
At a sales price of $ 8,000....your rig above is a nice buy for someone.

Good looking rig. The color is a standout, as are the details, right down to the piping on the sidecar seat. 🤩
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃
