This is in response to Drone's comments and subsequent thread about the different reply buttons/links. (And just to test this here is a link back to his post.)

To summarize the issue, if you reply to a post using the open reply window at the bottom it will post in a linear fashion, one post after the next. However, if you click the little blue 'reply' button/link right under the post it will post in an indented fashion.

Why the difference? And is it good or bad?

I noticed when I played with this in a staging instance I have separately, when I click the little blue 'reply' button it inserts an "at" symbol, @, and the posters username. IOW @drone. That is to indicate the reply is directed specifically in response to him.

In a long, wandering thread over many posts and many days if someone wants to reply to a post by Drone 10 posts and 4 days ago it might be completely out of context for someone coming in later (or on a new page of posts). If I want my post to be linked more directly to a post by Drone days ago, and not be lost, I can click that little reply button and my post will be prefaced with "@Drone" and then be inserted in an indented fashion to show the relationship.

That's useful information and a nice way to display the relationships of the posts. Not a bad thing but something that maybe should be in a 'how-to' post in a special 'How-to' forum to collect these little tidbits.
