Issue with Membership page?
Hi Jerry,
Could not use the membership renewal page on this site due to multiple technical issues with the page. Tried with Chrome and Firefox. Is it possible to test the page, at your convenience, to see if it is me or the page?
Meantime I'll send a check to renew.
Thank you Sir!

Same for me. All info completed, but when I click on the submit PayPal button, returns error message "enter amount of payment".
Yes, there is. Actually a couple of issues.
The first issue is a new payment form and many people are using the old payment form because it is cached on their local browsers. The new payment form uses a new payment processor (Stripe). The correct URL is https://sidecar.com/join-the-usca-or-renewstripe/
You can tell the difference when you open that page (from the home page click on "Join/Renew") and the button at the very bottom says "Submit". You are using the old form if the button says "Submit using Paypal". If you fill out all you information and click the old form you will get a welcome/thanks automated email but your payment won't go through because we aren't using Paypal anymore.
If you are seeing the old form try this. Press 'control F5' to force a refreshed page from the server. Might take several times. If that doesn't work try a different browser (uses different cookies and history).
Or just try this URL: https://sidecar.com/join-the-usca-or-renewstripe/
The second issue is a bad URL that apparently is used if you have a small screen or low resolution (like a cell phone or laptop). I just recently discovered this! The correct URL for the forum page to log in is https://sidecar.com/forums-login-register. But I see that if I shrink my screen down the URL switches to http://724.8e0..website/forums-login-register. This doesn't exist and will give you a 404 error! How does that happen??!!
I am searching the database, files, and menus trying to find where this URL is coming from. And why does it change with different screen resolutions? I don't have an answer yet but since Scott raised the question I need to explain this to others who may experience this.
[Update 11/10/25: I found the culprit buried deep in the catacombs of submenus. There is actually a change of options when you view a web page with a small screen. Somehow that corrupted link was assigned to the menu item. It is now corrected. What a fascinating way to spend several hours! Not!]
Have I told you how much I hate computers?

By the way, for everyone, please don't send checks. Checks are a manual, tedious, time-consuming process for me and the treasurer. And they delay your membership. Your membership doesn't start when you mail a check, it starts when I receive it. That may be weeks. For example, the treasurer is about to go on an extended trip out of the country for about 6 weeks. The checks will pile up in his mailbox until he gets back. Last year our previous treasurer was traveling for about 2 months and all membership applications and renewals paid with a check were delayed until the membership manager received them. Depending on the timing you could miss an issue of the Sidecarist magazine. Using a credit card is instant, painless for us, and efficient for your membership.

Shortly after this thread was created an automated email came from "Da Prez" thanking me for renewing membership. Will wait a few days to see if the charge shows up on my credit card.

Yeah. Automation is great when it works. FWIW i get a notification of everyone’s renewal, too. I’ve been dropping them into a folder called new membership. Don’t know if it’s necessary, but it’s easy!

For those having trouble with the old page not updating I can say the link posted above works.
I jumped the broom by renewing for 6 years....now good until 2030
