Does anyone have a part number for the NAPA or other brands of damper/struts that have a hole to hole of 20" and a piston travel of 6 and 1/2 to 7 inches? I don't need them right away, as my steering bearings need replaced or adjusted, but I would like to put a new one on anyway.

I don't think the GL's qualify as "Cruisers". Battlewagons would be a better description. lol

The earlier '60s Beetles used the longer stroke damper (over 7"). The later VW dampers have a little over 6" stroke and a shorter body.
J.C. Whitney also has them for cheap.

I'm not sure what you think I was trying???
My response was meant to say that the only motorcycle/sidecar rig I've owned that felt like it needed a damper was that Goldwing. I had a VW one on it but felt I lost the road feel and removed it looking for a better solution.
