VMax rear wheel swap
Does anybody have any knowledge or experience with adapting a Vmax rear wheel to a Venture? I have an '86 Venture Royale with a 16 inch rear wheel and would like to use the 15 inch rear wheel from a VMax. Will it work? The reason, of course, is to use a car tire.
Please advise: rpptn@netscape.net
Thanks to all.
I thought there was no problem mounting 16 " car tires. The problem is with the 15". Why would you want to go that route? seems more dangerous! My buddy has car tires on his Honda VTX 16" and loves it. Is the V max tire equipped with a different style bead seat? It's the 15" tires that get torn while installing
The problem with the 16in tires is the crosssection width - nearly 5 inches.
It's kinda difficult to get an accurate measurement, but it doesn't look like the smallest 16 will fit.
A 155R15 will fit. That's the only reason I was considering the 15in route.
I was hoping maybe someone with a Venture could lend some more info.

read the post in the general section about 15in car tires, send mark stevens a pm and ask him to measure the formosa 16in tire he just installed, he's a good guy even if he talks funny.(lol)
Sorry for taking so long to reply but apparently I talk funny.
Measured the tyre width at its widest (bulge) at 32psi. Hard to measure as no-one to help me hold straight edges against tyre, so did it by eye. Pretty acurate.
Aussie measurement 155mm-160mm
American measurement 6.1-6.2 inches
Hope this helps you.
Cheers
Mark
G'Day Moonlite.
What is oem tire size?
i do believe (not positive)they have the same rear but a different gear inside.... so the wheel should be interchangeable
if you went to a vmax forum you would probably find better knoledge
stace
I have actually been looking at the same thing. I would love to be able to run a snow tire on the rear for winter
