Bought a Velorex sidecar without a windshield and decided I wanted to add one. Purchased the mounting brackets and gasket from Velorex, but can't seem to figure out exactly how it all goes together. The brackets seem pretty straight forward, but the hole pattern in the gasket doesn't seem to match up with the holes in the mounting bracket. Anyone have any guidance or pics that might assist with the installation?
What model? Approx. mfg. year?
If it's a 562, 562E, or 563. you need the windshield, rubber gasket, a black steel strap and a nylon strap. That is the complete ass'y.
The hardware is: 5 bolts with locknuts, 2 flat washers and the three mounting brackets. It's easiest to assemble the unit on the bench, not on the sidecar.
The windshield (with 5 holes) slips into the gasket. Next the nylon strap and steel strap go in front. Start with the center hole. Insert a bolt through all pieces, put one mounting bracket on it from the back and snug up the bolt (not too tight). Note: The angled brackets have one countersunk hole. Don't use this end. That's the one that attaches to the body.
On the next hole insert a washer then snug it up. Repeat this on the other side hole. The two outer holes take the same treatment as the center (with the mounting brackets).

Then the instructions will apply. You might have to stretch the rubber gasket a little here and there due to the bowed windshield and thickness of the ass'y.

When I did my velorex, I bought a piece of with inch thick Lexan. It is tougher and more flexible than plexglass. hold the material in place and scribe with a compass to follow the curve of the sidecar. Cut that, I used a disc grinder with a very thin disc. Match it up and drill the holes ever so slightly larger than the screws. If you have to you can drill two holes near the center and put in the screws. then bend to fit and drill two more holes one on each side. Continue this until the windshield is mounted. Now use a heat gun to warm the windshield enough that it takes a set in the new shape. This removes all the stress of bending. Be careful not to get it too hot as it will develop sag marks if you do.
That was supposed to be eighth in thick lexan, not inch thick.
OK, few more questions. The windshield slips into the deep slit/ pocket of the black gasket? So, the two beveled ends of the gasket face towards the sidecar, not up in the air? The side of the gasket with the ridges faces forward or back? My metal strap has a clear gasket bonded to the side of the strap with the tabs. Is that the nylon strap?
I don't remember much about the gasket. I just put the lexan in it and mounted it.
The ribbed flap is in the rear. It is raised for access to the 5 mounting bolts. The later models use a bonded strap. No more nylon strap.

The 562E models (562/03) use a different mounting system than the 562 Standard, 562 Cruiser and the 563 Tour.
The windshield of the E models Are mounted on a flange instead of brackets mounted down through the cowl.
