I'm having a heck of a time installing my new velorex 562 on an '07 street glide.

I know it's a light hack for my bike, but it's just my winter/ dog rig until I can upgrade.

anyhoo- any good shops or folks in the rapid city area (South Dakota) willing to help a guy out?

Kinda embarassing, especially because I'm a mechanic by trade, but not too humble to ask for help.

PM me with any info.

My main problem is correct places for the mounting brackets-- I can't seem to line them up in a logical manner.

First of all: Don't do it! The lower mounts of the 562 are not sturdy enough for a 1000# bike with rider. They will shift and perhaps bend under heavy sideloading.
Secondly, most if not all sidecar shops would not install this sidecar without serious modifications in the mounting system and suspension.
Third: The optimum weight ratio between your bike and sidecar being about a 2/3rds bike to 1/3rd sidecar will require some 200# or so of ballast correctly placed in the sidecar bringing it up to it's maximum capacity without the dog (also straining the lower mounts).
Fourth: Due to the frame and body construction of the '07 Street Glide a sub-frame is needed to accomodate some of the sidecar mounts.
No Vendor I know of will make one for this application for safety reasons.
The 562 Velorex is a great, well made, quality sidecar but not the best choice for all motorcycles.
You would be better served attaching the 562 to a Cruiser bike (Harley or other), the late Harley Baggers are just too heavy for the 562's OEM lower mounts.

Well that's just grand.

The dude who had it before me had it on his '06 FLHX with no probs.... but I don't want to chance anything....

What's the biggest harley I could mount it on without modification? Softail, Dyna, Sporty?

I've mounted 562's on Sporty's, Softails, FXR's, Dynas and some early FL's and FX's with good results.
Check out my albums here (Hack'ns Hacks) for some examples.

No problems on his '06 Street Glide? Makes you wonder why he sold the sidecar if it worked so well for him.

Do you know of anyone who would want to take my velorex on trade for something that would fit the FLHX? I spoke to motorvation, and they're not much into the trade game.
