Velorex 562 to Sporty

I just bought a used Velorex 562 to put on wifey's 06 883L. I can use any input anyone has to help with this. Our local "hack guy " suggest's using a subframe. Is this the best way to go ?

There are less expensive methods for the rubbermount Sporty's.
