Triple Trees Revisited

I'm a month and 1,200+ miles into the new raked triple trees on the Sportster rig. All I can continue to say is: Wow!! What a difference. Not only is the rig easier to steer, but also less tiring as the handle bars no longer jerk every time the rig hits a bump; it just bounces with the bars staying straight. Also, at a steady 55mph there is no more wiggle in the bars. I have not found a need for a steering damper.
Thanks again Lonnie for your continuing advice. We added your recommended 1-inch spacer for the fork springs and the ride height was restored, just as you said. The extra preload improved the handling, especially reducing dive under braking, even if the ride is a little stiffer.
More good news: We found that, last year, Tony at the Cycle Stuff (primarily trike) shop in Tennessee had worked with Bill at Machine & Design Manf. Co. in Illinois to manufacture what, as for as I know, is the only raked triple tree for the Burgman 650 Scooter. We have already ordered one for Jena's rig with an anticipated manf/delivery date of mid-April. Pics of the prototype can be seen here: http://www.customtripletrees.com/TREES/SUZUKI/suzuki.html
So we have a new project on the horizon. Jena (and me) are kinda excited. Along with the "power" steering effect, minimizing the jerking handle bars on our bumpy Louisiana roads makes a rig much, much less tiring to pilot. 🙂
