I need to replace the front tire on my Valkyrie. Size is 150/80R-17. Anyone know of a good car or sidecar tire in that size or very close to it and if so, the source? I would like to have a flatter profile if possible.

Not sure if you can change over to the 16 inch rear wheel that the Valkyrie use to run. If you can we have had good luck running a 205 60 16 on the rear.

Jay - Thanks. It doesn't appear to be an easy swap, but I do run a Yokohama 205 on the rear.
By the way, I'm the one that is now using one of your new style Valkyrie subframes that you just sent to Bob @ Texas Sidecars. Just need to do a little maintenance, like the front tire, add some lights and should be ready to hit the road.

I'm kinda in the same boat... I'm back on a sidecar rig after about 10 years of no bike or twowheelin it. What is the latest opinions on car tires on the rear for longer wear life. I'm on a 99 wing with a friendship II. Just bought it with 8000 miles and the rear tire is ready for replacement.
We make a 15 inch wheel for use on the GL1500 that comes with a 165 15 car tire on it.

I love the car tire on the rear. Really smooths out the expansion joints and wears very slowly. That's why I'm interested in finding a car tire that would fit on the front, too.

I know you're asking Jay about his wheel tire combo and Jay, I would be interested to know if you're talking about for the front or rear, but I'll just give you a call.
As for 16" rear wheel/tire combos...
The only guy I know who has worn one out so far did it without sidecar, but he's a pretty big guy. If I recall, after his return from Alaska, he mentioned that his rear tire on his Valkyrie had something around 25,000 miles on it and was starting to get near needing replacement. The rest of us have yet to see any noticeable wear on these tires after anywhere from 8000-15000 miles.
You can also run a search on the forums at www.valkyrieriders.com to get some more information about using them on bikes without sidecars. The debate rages on, but many of the naysayers arguments wouldn't even apply to use with a rig.
I just bought a Motorvaton Formula II to attached to my Harley 2002 Road Glide. I'm in need of tires front and rear for the bike. It now has the standard issue HD tires. I am open for suggestions about tires. The bike has 32000 miles and gets pretty good wear as a two wheeler. Should I replace the standard HD tire or try something else.

Dauntless has a 16" automobile tire they are selling for $100.00 that is called the Twin tire and they suggest them for Harley usage. I haven't tried them so I don't how they last or handle, or the speed rating, but they are a flat treaded tire that should have good tread life. The rolling circumference may be less than your stock tires though which will change your effective gear ratio. That can be a plus or a minus as a sprocket change might be in the works, depending on your riding style.
At any rate they are much less expensive than a motorcycle tire on a dedicated rig with 16" tires.
