Thumb Brakes

I first heard of thumb brakes (normally used by sportbike racers, etc.) as a possible alternative to having dual pedals to control the bike and sidecar brakes separately. I liked the idea for my rig but they are a little too pricey for this frugal (Cheap!) Scotsman.

However, Jim Bryant and I are wheeling and dealing on a trade where he would take the K-Monster. He wants it for a friend who is a polio victim and cannot use his right leg to brake. I suggested a thumb brake. Tonight Jim asked me if I had any knowledge/expertise on mounting one. Nope, but I bet there is someone here who does!

Can anyone help this old curmudgeon?

Sarge

P.S. I am double-posting this at Sidecar Talk.

I have a adjustable proportioning valve that was originally meant to go between my Formula II and a motorcycle's rear brake. There must be a way to fit it between front and rear for your buyer to do away with the pedal. If it will help make your sale, I'll give it to you. Just pm me with a mailing address.
