I would like to put a car tire on the rear of my 1994 GL1500, hopefully without having to modify anything. Has anyone done this and if so what would you recommend?

Check the forums at www.goldwingfacts.com. Search for the term "darkside". Lots of opinions on the practice, particularly when it comes to 2-wheelers.

Have mounted both a Goodyear Assurance Fuelmax 175/60-16 and a Austone 175R16 on my 94 GL1500 with no problem. The Austin is a taller tire while the Goodyear could drag the bottom a few times crossing ridges.
On the front mounted a Battleax 45 130/70-18 rear MC tire. No handling issues at all.
Was very happy with the mileage out of these tires.
