I have a velorex i dont like the look of 100%. If I find another sidecar, can I leave the frame on my bike and just change the "bucket" part?

No reason you can't do this. If you find a compatible body. just be sure the chassis/body combo is large enough and suspension sturdy enough to support the tug you are using.

There;s also a strong tradition of home built bodies for sidecars. I think that a cedar strip body built using canoe construction techniques would be way cool. I've been thinking about this for quite a while and I'm not alone. There was a really beautiful strip built sidecar at the USCA rally last year.

Compatability, is that the basic width & length. Can you drill new holes in the floorboard if need be?

Suspention-on the bike? The side car I have now has no suspention-just the tire to smooth out the ride. The bike is a BMW R60/2.

Sorry for the probably painfully obvious questions I am asking.

With no suspension it isn't a (stock) Velorex that you are working with. A stock Velorex 562 and 700 chassis looks like this photo. With coil over shock, swing-arm suspension.
The body floors can be drilled for mounting. Some may need large fender washers or plates to secure the body to the frame. Some kind of softener is also recommendedto keep from chafing wear on the body.
