Steib 200 on a VTX 13?
Hello everyone, 1st post.
I have a 2005 Honda VTX 1300 that I just picked up for a great deal with only 7500 mi. and would like to mate a sidecar to.
2 hours away from me there is a gentleman with a Steib model 200 that needs work for sale.
My research indicates that this particular rig is designed for lightweight bikes "up to 350cc's", but right now it's on a Guzzi El Dorado, which (again, from my short internet research) seems to be an 850cc.
Is this Steib too small to mount on the 1300 VTX?
Should it never have been mounted to a Guzzi of this size, or would it be OK for me?
Thank you very much for you time.
At 132# it is a super lightweight designed for lightweight motorcycles. It wouldn't be the best freeway rig.

Thanks for the reply, Lonnie.
Much appreciated. As hungry as I am for a rig, I don't want to make a mistake and pick one up that isn't well suited for my particular bike.
Would be waste of time and money to invest in paint, brackets, etc., only to have it be too light.
I'll keep looking.
Thanks::::

I have a Astro Sport - 250 lbs on my 1300. No problems for the bike... I think the rule of thumb is the side should weigh at least 1/3 of bike weight.
Consider weight and ease of entry for a happy match.

Thanks G,
I'll keep looking.
The guy was shady, the pics were blurry, he kept changing his story, the whole deal stunk.
Glad the car itself was too small in the end.
Appreciate your help, guys.
Have a great week.

This sidecar is way to light for your bike. Its frame is not up to the loads your bike can put on it. You would also have to fabricate some mounting hardware. We offer bike specific mounting hardware for your bike, triple tree's to lower the steering effort with a sidecar and also many different sidecars. Our Kenna is the least expensive on sale until the end of the month for only $2956 which comes with bike specific 100% bolt on mounts for your bike. The M72C or CX are more popular for your bike and both of these are also on sale.
With the steib you also need to make sure it is a Steib and not a Cozy or Globe. The Stieb is worth 2 to 3 times what the Globe is worth and the globe is worth more then a Cozy if it is in good condition.

Thank you Jay, I'm glad I didn't go for that one and also that there are some guys around who know what they are talking about to steer me in the right direction. It looks like I'm going to have to keep saving up some more coin to begin this hobby. Appreciate it.
