I've been doing this for years because it work so well, get a bottle of a product called 'Lock Ease" it's made to lube locks and is a graphite base fluid, disconnect the clutch cable at both ends, push down on the cable while holding it it and dribble the fluid in working the cable back and forth untill the fluid comes out the bottom, reattach everything, after thee fluid evaporates you will find that the clutch will pull 30 to 40% easier and will be smooth as silk

Lock Ease is a great product and I've used it [but I used it on locks]. The only caveat I have is that some cables have "self lubricating" linings and if you have those Lock Ease, WD-40, all of the silicons and similar products will work great for a few days and then they will form a paste inside the cable that makes it VERY hard to use. So while I agree that cable lubrication is a good thing in most cases, be sure that you don't have cables that will be harmed by it. BTW, all factory BMW cables fall into this catagory. DAMHIK.

Well all I can say is that my 96 ST1100 got a bi yearly dose up untill 5 months ago(I sold it) and it worked great, alcohol is the carrier for the graphite and that won't cause the lining any harm, maybe BMW uses something no one else uses.

WD40 turns into recine and in my eyes is the worst industry lie ever told.

19 years in industrial machinery service taught me first test intensively then buy the real good stuff and pitch the hands of the dummies who listen to sales men or mecanics who aren't concisious of what they do.
