I am new to the sidecar .I have a 2013 ultra and I got the sidecar on it but the front upper bracket is in the way of the brake . do they make a brake pedal for this or a mount to move the brake back or do you think I have it setup incorrect? some feed back will be a big help. Thank you 😮

You did not say what sidecar you have. With our sidecars we use a curved strut going to the upper front mount, this gives you more room for getting your foot on the brake.
For your bike we have triple tree's to lower the steering effort and reverse for the bike. BTW, it is possible to fit an automotive tire to the rear of your bike.

A Velorex 562 should never be mounted on a bike this large! This is not a safe match up! The Velorex 562 is a great little sidecar for little bikes not bikes as large and heavy as your bike. Even with ballast every thing about this sidecar is way to light duty. The "universal" mounts can not be made to work correct on this bike. The upper rear mount has no where on the frame it could be attached to. The upper front mount would be "ok" at best. The way Velorex does their lower mounts there is no way wheel lead is going to be correct with out custom fabrication of parts.
You really need to get a larger, stronger sidecar for this bike or a smaller lighter bike for the sidecar. I know of at least one person who was killed due to a 562 Velorex being mounted on to large of a bike.
We will not help you with the strut needed to clear the brake pedal. Should you go with a larger stronger sidecar for your bike we will be glad to help you with mounts and or a sidecar, should you go with a lighter smaller bike for the sidecar we will be glad help with this. Safety must come first!

Take the 562 off and get a sidecar that is large enough to support your motorcycle safely.
Even the latest model of Velorex 562 Cruiser or Velorex 563 Tour is not able to support a large Touring bike safely.

Our least expensive is the Kenna at $3695, the most popular is our M72C $4995 or the wider M72CX $5895. All come standard with bike specific NOT universal mounts. The M72CX has a brake standard while a brake is an option on the first two.

Lonnie, Jay,

Both have made somewhat blanket comments to Smokey indicating that you think the car he has is too small for his tug, without an explanation for your thoughts. I've seen this before regarding a tug being too large for a particular car. Can you explain or direct me to info that supports your theories.

I'm not saying you are wrong, just I see no justification for these thoughts. It would seem on the surface that it is better for the tug to easily handle the car rather than have the car, because of it's size, "pulling or pushing" the tug.

Thanks,

Mike

Ukfan, I thought Jay and Lonnie pretty much covered the reasons. But let me put it this way; mating a Velorex to an Electra Glide is about as safe and as logical as towing a 30' camper trailer with a Smart car. It's simply the wrong vehicle for the job. An 800lb+ Harley hooked to a 150lb Velorex puts a lot of weight and force on the undersized, skinny, spoked sidecar wheel and the undersized, weak shock absorber, axle and suspension - especially in high speed corners. This is an inherently unsafe way to drive.

Mike,

So it's not the weight of the car itself, but rather the schedule of construction materials? In other words, a lightweight car, but made of so-called 'exotic' materials would be ok?

I have heard that ideally the sidecar should weigh about one third of the bike weight, at that a 900 pound bike should have a 300 pound sidecar, it is just for safe handling.
