Sidecar recommendations for Suzuki Savage 650
I am interested in attaching a sidecar that would handle well with my suzuki savage 650. If anyone has any tips recommendations of a specific model of sidecar etc. I would sure appreciate it.
Thanks!
George
Velorex 562 Cruiser works great, easy installation.

I normally think a Velorex 562 is too small for a 650cc bike, but I had a chance to ride a Savage/562 combo a few years ago. Perfect combination.
A few years ago they didn't have the Cruisers and Tour models. Way different in handling. Many changes in suspension and frames.

We have a savage in the shop right now and will be developing bike specific not universal mounts. Our Kenna or Sputnik would work well on this bike. We also have one used Velorex 562C that we just took in on trade. It is near new, we installed it on an F650GS as we were out of Sputniks. Now that we have Sputniks agian the owner would rather have a Sputnik as he can not get in and out very easy of the Velorex.

Although they are from different generations, I had a Velorex 562 on a Yamaha XS650 and it was a good set-up. Seems like it would be ideal for your thumper. I did add one brace to the rear mounting in order to triangulate the configuration (reduced the periodic adjustment intervals).
I put 13,000 miles on my Savage before I sold it. About 5,000 miles were with my California sidecar attatched. It's very similar in size to the Velorex 562. My sidecar is a 1980's model and is no longer avalible. The smaller the body size the better to reduce wind drag. I could do 80mph without the windshield on the sidecar. I wish I still had the Savage because it ran just as well as my Honda Aero since it was almost 200 pounds lighter.
I have an older california friendship 1 attached to an 800 marauder, the bike is light at 450lbs, and the light hack works well with or without counter weight, drag and fuel economy were not an issue. watch the frame height of the savage,..most cars are meant to run at 7-10 inch axel height, my suzi was a heartache at 5 inch axel height. my 2 cents, crawf.
I presently have a 2000 Suzuki savage rigged to a Vellorex 562L (mid 80's). Pulls/runs and handles great! I've put over 4000 miles on it this year.
But what I'm really interested in: Do you have any pictures of your XS650/Vellorex attachments/rigging?
I have a 562C (2006) and am negotiating to obtain a 1979 XS 650. Any help would be appreciated!
