sidecar recommendation wanted
New wanna-be sidecar owner here. Now I ride a 1972 BMW R75/5 which has been modified into more of 80/6: long wheelbase, 800cc up from 750, dual disc front brakes, dual-plugged, Toaster Tan top brace. I want to keep expenses down but still try a sidecar setup before committing more money for a dedicated sidecar rig. Any recommendations on sidecar for this bike? My intentions are not to carry passengers but camping gear and miscellaneous for weekends.
Thanks for any help.

I've mounted dozens of early Velorex 562 models (with upgraded suspension) and later model Velorex 562 Cruiser, 563 Tour sidecars to the /5, /6 and /7 Beemers through the years.
The 15mm axle 562's need an upgraded suspension since they were designed for 350cc JAWA and MZ cycles that only weighed about 300#. They will bottom out and wallow in the turns with the OEM suspension.
I'm retired, but still sell a proprietary bolt on suspension kit that utilizes a 1" axle.

What ever you go with make sure that you have proper bike specific NOT universal mounts. The frame tubing on your bike is much thinner then one would think and the front down tubes are oval not round so "Universal" type frame clamps such as the type Velorex uses will not work for the upper front and tend to damage the frame of the bike. The last one we had to fix we had to pull the engine in order to repair the frame damage caused by "clamps"
Of course all of our sidecars will come with the proper mounts for your bike, we can also provide mounts for many other sidecars including Velorex.
