You mentioned camping with your son. britishconnection.org puts on a Memorial Day 3 day camping event. It is located not that far from you in the Lake Cachuma area. It is a family affair, and in addition to vintage bikes, and newer bikes, they welcome sidecar rigs, and teardrop trailers. They supply 3 good meals a day, have motorcycle events, Motorcycle hall of fame riders story telling in the evening, self-guided rides, and usually a tour of the motorcycle museum in Solvang, and the Mendenhall museum. Last year there were a couple of children in the 3 year old age group, I believe most were older. Some had there own tiny little tents staked out around the parent tent.:-)

Take care, and ride safe

I've usually put the helmet in the nose of the car and installed the tonneau when I left it and never had a problem. Now that I'm in Idaho (a no helmet for adults State) it's moot.
If you have a child to carry that needs one, the sidecar trunk has a lock and it is also out of sight. Like with everything else, if someone's intent on ripping you off, they will, regardless of what precautions you may take. But, out of sight is always a good deterrant for the "somewhat honest" majority. For others a nice Rottweiler can be left in the car for a deterrant (with a water bowl, of course).

Didn't know you don't need a helmet in Idaho.
Yes, you cannot do anything against determined theif..
My Velorex was missing that lock. I bought a deadbolt lock at Lowe's and JB welded to the body. It's holding up so far.
Trunk access is a bit inconvenient due to the child safty seat but doable.

Shucks, you'd fit right in.. And why not let your wife drive the rig?
You could enter both bikes in the bike show. 🙂
