Hi everyone - My fist post

Got the below referenced sidecar out of a front yard for cheap and plan on mounting it on my 94 goldwing. My first sidecar ever.

Anyone happen to know the manufacturer of this side car?

https://picasaweb.google.com/116346368042955144649/2011Sidecar#

The only identifying mark on it is this BN symbol:

https://picasaweb.google.com/116346368042955144649/2011Sidecar#5820052908771158178

Is that even an "N" ?

I've tried contacting the manufacturer of the "Air Kontrol" unit
located in it and to no avail.

Originally came off a late 70's big Suzuki (GS1000 ? )

Hope you had a good holiday

Take care,
Brian

Brian,
You have a Jupiter sidecar.
These are the predecessors of the Sputnik models. The front portion of the cockpit slides forward for easy passenger access.

Here's a nice one attached to a 1974 Beemer.

Thanks Lonnie, You're the man.
Now for my next set of questions:

Is Jupiter the name of the company? or is it a BMW sidecar and Jupiter is the model name?

I'm actually selling the sidecar the "bucket" part (terminology? - part where the person sits) only. I am keeping the frame and wheel portion for a project. I have no idea how common this particular sidecar is and it is my first dive into sidecars - what would be a reasonable asking price for this? Looks like my searches indicate a good full sidecar to be in the $1,000 range. Well, mine is beat up and not a full piece unit. $300?
again, I have no idea.

Thanks again for your quick help Lonnie.

Brian

The sidecar was made in Russia up until about 1974, It was replaced by the Sputnik sidecar. To find the year of your sidecar look near the swing arm pivot, Numbers will be stamped into the sheet metal fender mount. The last two are the year. Most are 74 for 1974. We imported many container loads of Sputnik sidecars. Both the Sputnik and the Jupiter are great sidecars for the money for mid sized bikes. I do not recomend mounting this sidecar to a 6 cyl Goldwing, A 4 cyl would be ok. I also would not break up the sidecar body and frame as it is worth more together the apart. Jupiter sidecars are going up in value. About the only parts we still have on hand are the brake parts. Your sidecar has had the shock changed out which is a good thing. These sidecars were ran on the Russian IZH motorcycles which were 350cc two stroke bikes. Should you want to mount the sidecar on a lighter bike we may be able to help you with mounting hardware, Should you want to mount a stronger sidecar to your Goldwing we can help with the mounting hardware. The GL1500 and GL1800 Goldwings usualy require a sidecar with a longer frame as these bikes are about a foot longer then most other bikes. We also sell just a frame kit. If you can get the sidecar to us, we may be able to work out a trade for a new stronger sidecar frame. You can still buy windsheilds for this sidecar and Sputnik sidecars from www.bikescreen.com
Let me know if we can be of help.
