side car install question
Hello every one im new to the side car fun fair lol. I need to know about what people or place charge to fabricate and mount a hack, to my bike, looking for ballpark numbers, thanks....
Wow, you've got a wide ranging question there. Seems that ballpark numbers would likely fall between a little under $5,000.00 for a basic car with universal mounts (if they will fit your bike)and no painting to $20,000.00+ for a full EML or EZS rig. Not sure how much this information will help. Suggest you list more specific info on your motorcycle and desired sidecar use. I'm sure you'll hear from a member who rides or has built one just like it. Often heard is: "any sidecar can be mounted to any motorcycle" Stop in at the USCA National rally in Beaver Arkansas (see link on this site) and I'm sure you'll get all the info and opinions you seek.
Well thanks for your info, but I already have a side car, and it is custom built from over seas, just looking for install pricing. I need to have brakets and or mounts fabricated to the hack and to to bike...
The price can varry a lot depending on what kind of bike, how the sidecar is attached and what you are going to do if any thing with brakes, wheels, tires and suspention up grades.
With more specifics I can better answer your questions.

To get the last "Special" sidecar mounted here, the owner took several pictures of the sidecar body and chassis, the existing mounts and the right side of the motorcycle the sidecar was to be mounted on. There were also drawings showing relative dimensions, lengths and diameters of all the chassis tubes, crossmembers, bolts and bolt holes.
From that information I was able to give him a very close estimate of the cost of his installation. He had the work done and was quite satisfied with the end result and total cost.

Claude,
You were wondering about the weight of the new Kenna sidecars.
FYI I just went out to the shop and weighed a new Kenna single.
While I was there I also weighed a new Velorex 565 Tour.
Kenna Single 181# as equipped. Velorex 565 Tour 180# as equipped.
No difference here to speak of. Makes one wonder why Velorex's keep getting the "Little sidecars for little bikes noise".
Both cars are well made and quite affordable and both will work well when matched with a proper tug. Neither one is a one size fits all sidecar.
Thanks for the sway bar pix,
Lonnie
